Does the 9.6.1 Driver is better for Avid Symphony/M.C 6.0.3 than 9.5.3 Driver?

Yes, there were a number of fixes between those driver version made specifically for Media Composer.
As always I would not recommend updating in the middle of a project. Please finish your project before updating.
