If there is a price cut, It won't be passed on to public. This will undoubtedly go to the disributors in each region who are currently desperate for the cameras to start shipping so they can see a return on the investment they have made with Blackmagic for stock purchased.
Albeit titanically late and amid a few hundred peeved customers, the Blackmagic will still be the best value camera on the market without a price fall. I personally don't want to see it get any cheaper, because the professional video production market is already flooded with people who are selling themselves for nothing, and pumping youtube and vimeo full of shallow DOF videos. Just to be clear, for the money that we are spending, I would have paid twice as much if I knew it would arrive on time (and still would if it would come tomorrow). I already have most of the accessories that are needed (as most people who have been working with DSLR's will do). DSLR's might have been the revolution 4 years ago, but this is twice that. We are going to be dealing with the most powerful camera in its class, or any other class up to those that are 20 times its price.
From the images that are coming out from the people who do have cameras it is clear that this is a game changer. I want it to work, and be reliable - after that I know it will pay back the investment very quickly.
The only fault that Blackmagic have is being frustratingly quiet on when we might get something, however, they are a very small dog that is throwing its hat into the ring against some much bigger rivals. I am rooting for them to pull this off - when it does, we will all be working with something that is truly awesome.
Let's get excited again - it's coming. It's late, but it's coming.
I WANT MY CAMERA!
