Converting HD to SD on playout with Decklink

PostTue Oct 30, 2012 8:30 am

Good day all,
I am in need of some advice please. I have the following: Final Cut Pro running on a Mac Pro (8 core I think). Then there is a Decklink Extreme with HD/SD SDI | Component IN/OUT. The show I am doing needs to me mastered onto DVCPRO50 (PAL). Until now, I have been editing everything in HD, (shot on Panasonic DVCHD), and then downconverting the HD sequence within Final Cut to create an SD timeline. Then from there, I've used Firewire to play out to tape. This has given some very unsatisfactory results. :|

I want to be able to Edit to Tape directly from the HD timeline, and have tried this, but can't seem to make it work. The DVCPRO50 deck has analogue component video/audio inputs. Is this possible to do? So in other words the downconvert from HD to SD happens via the Extreme card and it spits out analogue SD video...?

Please advise..

Thanking you,
