Panasonic 14-45mm or 45-150 lens?

I ordered my BMPCC recently with the Panny 14mm pancake lens & haven't really got a good chance to film with it and get used to it, but I know that lens is very wide and wouldn't really get me the close ups without having to move closer or give me the range I need.

I'm looking at the Panny 14-45mm and the 45-150mm and they both seem like great choices but I don't know really for me.

For music videos, short films and web-series, which would would be best if you have some advice or if you own both these lenses.

I have the Panasonic 14-45mm and the 45-200mm.

Both work fine. AF is slow but it's slow on any AF lens really. I would not rely on AF when shooting video anyway.

Manual focus can tricky as the focus rings have a short throw and, like most modern AF lenses, have no hard stops.

Image quality is ok. I think the 14-45mm is a perfect starter lens for outdoor use on the BMPCC.

I have the 14-45 and the newer 12-35.
Both work very well in all aspects, I can't see much difference in optical stabilization.
Unless you need the f2.8 I would recommend the cheaper and MUCH lighter 14-45.



At least until the problematic 14-42PZ is supported but even then only due to the pocket-compatible pancake-size of the 14-42PZ.

Hi, I have the 14-45mm and AF (tap button to focus) doesn't work on it. It does however autofocus by itself fairly quickly when zooming in (as if the lens were parfocal). It only does this with a manually pre-set focus point though. Not sure why...

Christian it sounds like the lens is running old firmware. My 14-45 also did not auto focus. I downloaded the most recent firmware and popped in at my local store and we mounted the lens on a Panasonic body and updated it.

Auto Focus works fine now. Tho it is slow.

Thanks, You Guys, for this thread. I was going crazy wondering why my 14-45mm Lumix was NOT AF'ing. I did see on the Panasonic site about the firmware, and I have a friend bringing over her Panasonic camera, so I'll let you know what happens after that.

PS. Installed the new PCC firmware today.
