Anamorphic Adapter Apefoscope Indiegogo Campaign:

I started a Campaign in Indiegogo (similar to Kickstarter) to build more units of Apefoscope. Please take a look at the video

showing the prototype images and the campaign. If you want to help me consider a small backing. Thanks!

I think this is a great idea. But I agree there's some flare and CA issues, but maybe it could be resolved with higher quality glass? Will it only be available in 52mm Ø thread? All our lenses start at 72mm Ø.

Would love to see this at the EF mount level (with pass-through pins), since stop-loss will happen at either end of the lens anyway. Then any lens would seem to work, and focus adjustment and anamorphic vertical alignment wouldn't need to be dealt with.

The CA in the night shoots is due to one lens in the prototype had a difference in thickness between sides. I had a meeting in the optical lab and they corrected the issue using a larger glass to grind the lens. In the day shoots the CA is much better reduced because the lenses used are in better shape.

The first units I am building are with 52mm thread because most lenses in 35mm and 50mm focal length used in GH2 have this size and also the 58mm thread lenses can be converted with a 58-52 step down ring without vignetting, I tested in the canon APS-C 18-55.

I can consider to develop a version to be used with larger diameter lenses, I will think about it.

To be honest, I did not want to do this, I would like to keep it myself, I feel some sadness, but I need to do, I need to raise funds to go further:

Apefoscope First Assembled Unit is for auction on ebay (private listing):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/321027254359?ss ... 1555.l2649

The sale units will be offered to donors first, the auction is only for the "First Unit" and includes the hand made draw.

The way to sell me on this:

78mm thread, bundled with a series of step-up rings. 58mm to 78mm / 55mm to 78mm etc.
less pronounced flair.
Minimal/irrelevant CA.

first point is completely do-able.
second and third are just some stuff that needs to be experimented with.

Hi, the Apefoscope second unit is for sale on ebay. It was used by me to do tests. From now the next units will be offered for donors first. It is buy it now, so first bid will get it.

ebay.com/itm/Apefoscope-Anamorphic-Adapter-Second-Assembled-Unit-/321043418901

I am working in the lens coating tests.

The Indiegogo campaign raised 228 usd until now. It needs 272 usd to reach the 500 usd goal. Please, consider a 10 usd small donation to help the project, if each people on vimeo interested on the adapter do this small donation the goal will be successful. It is just 6 days to the deadline.

Thank you!
