I'm not sure that converting all your video material is necessarily the way to go. Moving everything to .mov will mean transcoding all that media. I don't know how much you have, but this could take you a long time, and may compromise quality to some extent.
From my experience .avi files will often open OK on Mac as long as you have the right codec installed. I haven't tried this with Premiere CS6, but I would have thought it would work OK. I'm pretty sure previous versions have been OK with importing .avi. Depending on the codecs your media is in, there may be some files that won't work, and for those it maybe is best to transcode.
If you were using Premiere on PC and still have it, I'm reasonably sure you could encode to Quicktime .mov files.
Others may have better suggestions however.
