If you have been experiencing issues with your 2013/2014 MacPro with OSX 10.9.3....Apple just posted the 10.9.4 update.

On my system, it has corrected the playback issues. I am about to test render.

On you mac, click on the apple icon in the top left and select Software Update. You should see the 10.9.4 update listed there.

Running on a 2013/2014 MacPro with the D700 video cards and updated to 10.9.4.

Just exported 5 interview clips with over an hour of footage using Resolve 11 Beta running in Mac OS 10.9.4. No issues at all. Worked perfectly. Source footage was shot on a RED Epic and a 3D LUT and a curves node were applied. Initial grading tests worked well also, and I encountered no issues with playback.

So far, (knock on wood), everything appears to be back to normal running Resolve on these beastly machines.

Good to know, thanks for testing. After a painful rolling back to 10.9.2, I was really hesitant to update to 10.9.4... But I've got a Time Machine backup that is on standby, so I suppose I'm clear to launch.

I just rolled back to 10.9.2 because all of my programs were locking up... I had to hard reset the computer multiple times. I unplugged everything from the Mac Pro, still had beach balls on everything. Not sure what the deal was, but probably an isolated thing.

There is always the chance that there was a hiccough in doing the update to 10.9.4. It would not be super easy, but after you have a complete Time Machine backup, you could erase your drive and do a new fresh install of 10.9.4 and then recover your user stuff from the Time Machine backup. After months of trying to solve mysterious behaviour on my iPad, Apple advised that I must have had a problem applying an iOS update so I did this and it worked... IPad healthy again.

Hey Rick, which iPad? I have the original iPad and it's almost unusable now. I thought it was just planned obsolescence, but perhaps not!

Sean, my iPad is the iPad Air 9.7" Retina. The latest version of iOS compatible with the original iPad is 5.1.1, but if you did a backup and an erase, and then created a 'new' install via iTunes, I'm sure it won't hurt anything and would clear up any problems, if any, caused by multiple updates over the years.

I gave away my first iPad Retina to a family member and it has worked flawlessly; I was really missing it after months of battling strangeness on the new iPad. The 'new' install is working very well thankfully. So good luck!
