When will the Ultrastudio Mini Converters be available?

PostSun Nov 18, 2012 12:03 am

I'm looking to purchase one of these guys but I can't get a release date. B&H only offers pre-orders...

Anyone know?

Also, just to confirm, can I use this to monitor out for using dual monitor in DaVinci Resolve 9.0, right? I want to have the Resolve GUI on my computer monitor and the viewer on my video monitor... is it 444?

The grading monitor should be feed via a Decklink or Ultrastudio I/O card, not the UI graphics card.

Thanks for the response, Peter.

I'm a bit confused... I read the product listing on the BMD website, and it appeared to me that that is what they're for: moniotring out for editing and color grading.

Can you please elaborate as to the differences and what the UI cards used for?

Thanks again!

I'm pretty sure you can use an Ultrastudio Mini Monitor for grading with Resolve. Peter was probably confused because you used the word "converter" in your question, which is incorrect. Blackmagic Mini Converters are something totally different.
I see on the Ultrastudio Mini Monitor's specs page it's limited to 4:2:2 sampling, but I wonder why that is, since it supports 3G-SDI?
