AVCHD vs RAW

They are aimed at different users.

C100 is aimed at the videographer (wedding shooters, events shooters, etc).

The BMCC is aimed at DSLR shooters wanting to step up to a cinema camera or cinema camera users wanting smaller set-ups.

With even a small shoulder rig and a big v-mount battery shooting an event or wedding in prores seems pretty plausible aswell? Long run time and lotsa space on the SSD's. Imo the BMCC is a camera that is versatile enough for pretty much any shoot. And from the first looks of c100 footage it's not better then the bmcc in term of IQ. Needless to say that on a wedding having the luxury of raw for the very special moments is just wonderfull, less possibility to f it up.

Also:

The C100's 8-bit 4:2:0 AVCHD vs. the BMCC's 12-bit RAW uncompressed, and 10-bit 4:2:2 ProRes/DVxHD at up to 220 megabits/sec.

The C100 costs more than twice as much as the BMCC, and the latter includes a software bundle worth >$1,500.

In the C100's favor, it's "in stock", and has built-in NDs, XLRs, VUs, etc.

To the OP:

All this and more has been discussed previously. Since both cams & footage are "out there" now (more or less), I suggest you compare them yourself and decide which you prefer for the kind of shooting you do. Cheers.

i dunno, the c100 doesnt look too bad for me now. Paired with a ninja 2 the image is identical as a c300. Built in NDs is huge and i like the LCD, battery system, and form factor. I love the cinematic look of the BMCC over the c100 but i do shoot a lot of weddings and events, as well as narratives. If the next update isnt a positive one im afraid i will get a C100 or a second hand scarlet.

More like caviar and a juicy steak. Of course, you can eat the steak or you can starve w8ing on the caviar. It depends on how hungry you are I guess. ;)

Mark, you are a wise man!!! Respect!!

Yeah C100 looks pretty attractive but if it was at BMCC price (or lower it should be) mostly of us surely have moved away.... :)

may i ask what made you go the c100 route beside it's available? i also am thinking of canceling and jumping on the c100 bandwagon.

I'm having the same thoughts...except I'm considering maintaining my $200 deposit on the BMC and making a decision when/if the BMC ships. If the C100 does it for me, I'll just lose the $200. If I'm still wanting what the BMC can give me, I'll cough up the extra $2,800 then (whenever that is). If there's another RAW camera out in the price range that makes a similar gorgeous picture, then I'll consider that one. If I lose my $200, that is much less than I lost at the Texas Hold'em tables in Vegas last trip. ;)

I could go with fs700 instead of c100 if I won't have my bmcc in next 2 months.. they drive me crazy with these lack of information about future of the damn bmcc!
