HDLink Pro Signal Issues

PostThu Aug 30, 2012 2:53 am

I just purchased last week an Ultrastudio 3D Thunderbolt, an HDLink Pro 3D Displayport and an HP Dreamcolor monitor. All this is for the purposes of editing and grading with a color accurate reference. I am running Media Composer 6.0.3 on a thunderbolt iMac with 14 GB of RAM.

So far I have not been able to get signal into it through the HDLink Pro. I am using HDMI out of the Ultrastudio for the time being just for editing, not grading.

Every other time I launch the HDLink Utility it asks me to update the firmware. I follow the instructions, power cycle (unplug and plug back), and SOMETIMES I will get a signal that is distorted and looks like an off-sync broadcast monitor (you know where the image is split in half and the bottom is on top and the top is on the bottom and some diagonal lines running across sort of thing).

Am I doing something wrong? The setup goes SDI out A on Ultrastudio into SDI In A on HDLink Pro and then Displayport out into HP Dreamcolor Displayport In.

Is my HDLink defective?

Any thoughts and comments will be helpful!

Sounds to me as it is defective

Talk to your reseller about it maybe ?

I did contact BMD Support and they said they might just do an RMA and have me ship it to them. Hopefully I can just get it replaced ASAP.

If not I will return it to my reseller and have him deal with the headache. :?

Having the same problem with constant firmware update, but on the 3D Extreme SDI version here on PC.

Have you ever solved that problem?

Thanks, Frank

First I thought it was my HD-Link. To make sure I connected a SDI monitor to the Decklink output and got the same results (blinking flashing, green screen, distorted)
Found out, that I had my Decklink card in the wrong slot (too less PCI lanes) - changed slots and it started working.

Also the update routine of the HDLink somehow went away after that.

Gotta say that I love the combination of Decklink, HDLink and Dreamcolor.
