PC HDMI to Thunderbolt Display

PostFri Dec 28, 2012 5:35 pm

Hello.

I'm looking to purchase an Intensity Extreme video capture device. According to the wiring diagram it looks like I should be able to connect a PC HDMI out to the HDMI input on the Intensity Extreme and output to the thunderbolt port to an Apple Thunderbolt display -- is this correct?

If so, would Windows recognize it as an external display?

Has anyone tried this?

Thanks!

You would be able to connect HDMI out of a PC to the HDMI in of the Intensity Extreme; however, the Thunderbolt connection will not send video out for display purposes but rather is meant to transmit video data to a software application installed on a Thunderbolt-equipped computer for capture there. So, no, you would not be able to connect the Thunderbolt output to a Thunderbolt display for viewing like an additional computer monitor.

Thanks for taking the time to explain why this won't work. You saved me the hassle and $$$ by not having to experiment on my own ;)
