Ease in and out

PostSat Sep 12, 2015 4:56 pm

Say I have a title I want to move from left to right. No curve. I want to ease the in and out points. There isn't a graph in the timeline for position. Zoom, rotation, etc. yes but not position. There's no choice but linear. The smooth function in the window only affects positional, not temporal. This is the Resolve 12 actual release, not beta.

Was about to post this myself. Total junk for any sort of motion graphics. Looks like they almost completely copied Final Cut 1-10's engine and just put some pretty graphs on it. Ok, it's a little better. With X you can only add easing to things like opacity. Really. Opacity. WTH? Adobe is still the only company that truly has a grasp on key framing in the NLE community.

Hi.

Just a thought... maybe Fusion is much better suited for motion graphics than a dedicated editor/grading tool.
In Fusion you can easy in and out of just about everything, animate everything and that even in 3D-space.
Tech:
Win 10 pro, Ryzen 9 5900X, 128 GB, M.2 for media
RTX 3080 ti, Intensity Pro, DVR Studio + Fusion 18.x, Desktop Video 12.x

You're suggesting some use and learn a very high learning curve piece of software just to ease in and out a title? Something thats been done in NLE's and DVE's since I started using them in the 90s. Adobe seems to be the only ones knowing how to keyframe these days. Resolve was close.

AND it's actually a feature that existed in Resolve 11. It was called pan and tilt then, but now they call it position.

As a workaround, you can ease-in and ease-out the dynamic values with the PTZR keyframes on the Color page. But not only Edit page... yet.

This kind of stuff baffles me and it seems BM do it quite often. Why implement a feature on every type of reposition but one? It's like they've been working on it, working on it, and then when they came to implement it on position the clock suddenly hit 6pm and it was pub quiz time so they all left and forgot about it.

I was looking for the ease in & out as well.. Unfortunately BM also decided to import one of FCPX most annoying features. Super sluggishness when you want to be able to see your audio waveforms on the timeline.
year 2015,
mac pro 8-core, d700
and you still have to deal with that nonsense..

Is there a timeline estimate for the ability to Ease Position attributes?

I am transitioning from Premiere Pro CC to Resolve.
Very impressed so far with only minor glitches.
In-Ability to Ease Position in most frustrating.

Thanks.

Yikes! This question about Ease Position was posed in Jan 2016, nearly 2 years ago. The control by R clicking the position in the viewer does not work with any finesse or control. When will this be dealt with? I am editing a doc with lots of photos with moves and this is just killing me. Has anyone figured out how to make an ease in/out of position with control?
WHY THE HECK WAS THIS NOT FIXED IN V14????

Got the same problem here. I"m editing a live performance right now and use the main camera (with higher resolution) to focus on the action by keyframing, like panning in those shots.

Here it get's even worse, since those shots are long and I need to do a lot of keyframing. What makes it useless: even if I cut that clip down to smaller chunks with the razor, the viewer overlay is showing all the keyframes from the whole clip. No chance to select a single one out of that mess!
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

For real? How is this possible?

What is a work around that doesn't take as long as it would learning another piece of software to do the same thing?

Frankly it is embarrassing to be in session with a client and have to turn around and say "I can't put an easy ease on position". Then you get the "I thought you knew what you were doing" look back from the client. Not cool. Really hope this will be sorted out in R15

Yeah this function is not real sexy but is a killer (AKA DEAL BREAKER) on Docs with many stills

Please put this on the to do list BMD.

Coming from Vegas Edit this missing basic feature was a big surprise. I've had the ability since Vegas 3 and it's now on Vegas 15. Hope Resolve team solves this soon.

v15 has XY curves with Bezier handles.
If that is not enough, its quite easy to switch to the Fusion tab and throw in DVE, not much learning curve.
So, yes BM has heard you and its coming..
