Correct, it will work with the lighter Ursa Mini, which is closer In size and weight to the DSR300 series that the VCTU 14 plate was designed for. The big Ursa, needs the heavy duty VCT-14, designed for the larger 2/3rds ENG Betacam cameras.
Also, a low battery warning light or indicator is a good idea, somethings to grasp the camera ops attention, even a flashing monitor screen, or flashing Tally red line around the monitor image, steady red when recording, and flashing red when their is an error, or low battery situation.
