Really good to know. How about below 0° F? That's a test I'd like to see. Winter is coming... Jon Snow.

the wind-chill factor was -5, if that helps.

here's another version a shot during the cold...

This video was shot on BMCC EF mount. Had lots of fun trying out the 2.35:1 ratio for the first time.
A local organization asked me to shoot a video for a conference they hold every year that includes 20+ local churches in Hamilton. Thanks for watching!

Yeah! THIS looks very cold! I like it more than your previous look. It was warm and too bright for such weather.

Just received my Ursa Mini 4k.
I haven't had a lot of time to muck about with it.
I fired it up today and did a quick solo video shoot mainly to test the camera and cards for the first time.
I see no evidence of FPN that others have been going on about.
I didn't even have much light for the insert shots, just a small LED camera light.
Please disregard my awful color correction. I don't know resolve... yet, so I did what I could
directly in Avid. My focus is off in a couple of shots as is the interview since I just did a quick shoot
with no means of accurately adjusting focus for myself in the interview. Had no one here to help.
So far I am thoroughly impressed with how the camera performs with very basic and quick lighting.

Hey Robin,

My hometown :) Looks nice. Would be great if you could re-upload in at least 1080p. Right now 720p doesn't do that camera or your shooting justice. Thanks for posting.

Hi!

My first video shooting on Blackmagic cameras.

Ursa Mini 4k was the main cam used for all dry shots, with a BMPCC for the underwater night stuff and an A7s for underwater day.

Cheers!

Just wanted to share a short film I was the Cinematographer on. The whole project was completed from start to finish in one month and a half, given our time frame I'm happy with the short film. I've been privilege to meet some great people, the whole thing was based here in Seattle.

Camera: BMCC 2.5k RAW
Lens: Rokinon 17mm 2T and the Sigma 18-35mm Art 1.8
Edited: Final Cut X
Colored: DaVinci Resolve 12

Although it's in another language and sometimes hard to understand; it was a crazy fast experience, I'm very glad to have worked on it. I've worked on lot's of Bollywood Productions in LA and Las Vegas back in the day as a PA. Particularly "My name is Khan" It's funny after all those years I'm now involved in an indie Bollywood Production. I hope you enjoy it...

Please, I'd love to get some feed back on the Cinematography of the short. I want to improve and get better. I'd like to know any constructive feed back on things. The last night scenes of the movie were shot on available light, no bounce or anything... It was also our first days of the shoot and we were still not up to speed on things. I think some of those suffered the most.

**there are some shots one or two that were shot on the BMPCC with a very bad soft lens and they unfortunately made it in the film, also some weird artifacts from shooting in the night in really low light at the very end of the movie.**

These are some of the dailies from my friend's thesis film that I just DP'ed. Hope you enjoy. This camera is insane. And by the way, this was just a super quick grade to throw up the dailies.

Let me know what you think.

Davi, the story is very sweet and the dots are all connected. When I think of Bollywood, I'm usually thinking of dancing and singing. So that's not in this film. But I also think of vibrant colours and action. Since the film is shot, you're not about to invent action. But pacing it faster might give it more vitality. It does seem to be twice as long as needed, although there's certainly nothing which deserves to be cut entirely. I'd just make almost every scene half the duration and get some rhythm going. But you may still be able to add more colour to your grade which, to me, is too flat for the Bollywood genre to which I'm accustomed. I certainly respect that none of these suggestions are things with which you may agree. Good luck!

Thanks Rick, I agree with you on the pacing. I was not the editor and/or the director (who had strong views as to how he wanted it to "flow") so I really had little input on the cut. Sadly because I did a little color grading on the dailies the Director thought I could color grade the whole film. I told them getting a professional would be much much better but due to budget cost and all of that they were stuck with me. I'm not a colorist I just know a little here and there... I'd love to see the footage I shot CC'd and CG by a professional someday :) hahaha

After all the whole project was done with zero Pre-Production which to me is a death wish and under extremely fast deadlines. Ultimately, it was a learning experience for all involved. We will make more and they will be better planned with pre-production (location scouting, lighting schematics, script breakdown, blocking!) I know that the most important thing about telling a story is keeping things simple in lighting, blocking, dialogue, visuals, etc. But that can only come after lot's of planning and testing.

I really love this combination.
Sigma Art 18-35, speedbooster T EF to MFT and BMCC 2.5k Raw.
It's really quite a strong combo. So versatile in a huge range of lighting conditions, extremely sharp, but with a quality in the BMCC that is very filmic.

Really loving the look. Of course the exposure control on the sigma is not external so it's tricky but since the Speedbooster T allows me to control the aperture from the adaptor.

Hi everyone, I just got my Mini 4K a week ago and I'n into the process of testing it before I can take it on real sets. Yesterday I did a low light test, I had to know what meant shooting at 800ISO in extreme conditions, just in case you find yourself in a tough spot and you have no other choice! My daughter was invited to a birthday party and they took the kids to a flying simulator. What better place than a cockpit with very little light! So, here's the result. It's all ProresHQ, ISO 800 and Sigma 18-35 wide open at 1.8. The password is: airplane. Please don't embed out of this forum. Thanks. PS: Today is slow motion testing day.

Very nice, it pulls you into wanting to know more! I would use a few cuts to add pacing instead of the soft focus pulls for transitions. While the focus shift is nice to fade in and out or shift the subject focus, it can be overdone, if you are not careful.

We shot this commercial on BMPCC (and GoPro). The brief was women, travel and Treebo (hotels) in that order.
Seven days from brief to delivery. Run/gun shoot. No external lighting. Mostly shot on Sigma 17-50 2.8 with a speedbooster. Some shots with Sigma 35 Art.
I haven't ever done a grade this 'heavy' before. Hope you enjoy it. Feedback is welcome. Thanks!

Thanks Gene :)

And very nice work Andrew! It's very hard to work under the lighting thats typical in retail spaces. Did you relight the entire space? The skin tones look very nice.

Jamie! Watched your videos. Its great! Cant write a lot because cant speak English well but want to say a lot of good words about your clips. Love the manner of giving information to viewer. Some words mixed with music inserts easy to listen and watch. Great location with woman! Her violet dress just pomps out of the screen. Great colors! Liked vertical panning here. What you use to make camera movements? Some steadycam?
Thanks! My eyes enjoyed watching it. Also great location with young man in city too! Especially liked the parts when he speaks.
