Mini Monitor not showing up [SOLVED]

PostSat Sep 03, 2016 9:50 am

Problem:
Ultrastudio Mini monitor not showing up in Blackmagic Desktop Video Utility although everything seems to be connected the right way. Davinci Resolve does not recognize my second monitor either.

Facts:
1. My screens works, and all its inputs/outputs (without the Ultrastudtio)
2. My computers thunderbolt port works
3. When connecting the Mini Monitor to my computer, itsled indicator lights up. plus, my computer recognize it and lets me know they're connected
4. When then connecting my screen to the mini monitor, it seems it gets some kind of signal because otherwise it usually tells me its going to shut of, and now its not.
5. Blackmagic Desktop Video Utility says: "No desktop video device connected"

i've been pulling my hair for 2 days straight now, what am i missing?

I've been told that Thunderbolt can be a bit flakey on some Windows devices. The only Windows systems I've seen Thunderbolt work with was a fairly recent-vintage HP z840. I'm not saying it can't work, only that it wasn't reliable on the 2 or 3 systems I've seen.

If Desktop Video can't see it, that's a deal-killer right there.

But thing is, i did try it like a month ago with my TV and it worked fine.
I bought this dell monitor just now to use for grading but it wont work. Also, i tried with my tv again and it does not work.

The things that has changed since it did work with the tv last time is:
I have done a clean install of win 10
Installed all he drivers thats needed
reinstalled all the blackmagic softwares

I mean, it should work..

im getting so tired of this. everytime if find time to work on my ****, there's always problems like this and it just drains all my energy.
Thanks for trying to help though, i appreciate that

Check in device manager, does the Mini monitor show up under 'Sound video and game controllers'?

If you are using Windows 10 anniversary version and your system has secure boot enabled then BM drivers won't work as they now need to be digitally signed by Microsoft instead of just being signed by BM
There's a link in this thread that shows how to disable it

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=51436&p=297299#p297299

although I don't know if it works under Win 10 Home.

Another thing is to make sure you are on the latest Intel TB driver as that can also stop BM devices from working

Well the link to the fix wasn't mine, but we have seen this a few times on the forum and worked out that that was what the problem was
