I love Ultimatte.

The core technology is all based on Petro Vlahos' analogue design of Color Difference Matte generation. He received a patent for it, and won a couple of Oscars in the process.

go to 12:30 for the part about Vlahos.)

Yes, they had the advantedge plugin, way, way back: and the supported both shake and fusion back then.

• Currently Supported Host Applications • For Windows:
Adobe PhotoShop v5.5 or higher
Adobe After Effects v5.0 or higher
Adobe Premiere v6 or higher (excluding Premiere Pro) Autodesk Combustion v1.2 or higher
Avid - All Windows products supporting AVX v1.5 Avid DS 6, 7 and 8 (32-bit only)
Eyeon Digital Fusion v3.12 or higher
For Mac OS X:
Adobe PhotoShop v7.0 or higher
Adobe After Effects v5.5 or higher
Apple Final Cut Pro v5.0 or higher
Apple Shake v.3.5 or higher

Now lets hope we get it as OFX, for resolve and fusion, and as a plugin for FCPX as well :)

Hopefully!

I wanted to get Advantedge badly but windows and Mac went to 64 bit and they could not afford to hire the coders to make it work with 64 bit so they let the line fall. So happy for this.

When I called them in 2009 and talked to one of the head guys there he told me they only made a 32 bit version of all products and no 64 bit as they could not afford to hire the coders to make it and they were not planning on updating it. The 32 bit version was to be their final version. After the 32 bit was out the Ultimatte page never had an update at all. If there is in another piece of software those guys either made a work around cause Ultimatte themselves never did it.

Blackmagic buys Ultimatte...and Fairlight.
A nice article on FXguide.com spoke about them.
