- Keep transparency of a compound clip.

- Double-click in media pool to import media

- Curves for position keyframe.

-When we drag'n drop a file from bin to timeline, it always move the playhead at the end of the clip. Would be nice to have an option to not move the playhead.

- A shortcut/button to export an image right from timeline.

- A new timeline created from a clip could have the same name by default.

:D

Hi Alex,

Have you read the manual on page 341 the timeline viewer edits overlay (drag the clip to the extrem right of the viewer). Really good. A new clip can be placed in other positions.

regards.

Hi Jean Claude,

Yes I have.
The complete manual, and the lynda Formation.

But when you drag to the viewer, you can not choose the insert position "à la volée".
It will always be a the playhead position, or at the end.
And the playhead will always go at the end of the clip, unless you chose "replace".

What I would like, is that the playhead stays where it is.
Here's a exemple of what I mean (Resolve & Edius)

In Edius, the playhead doesn't move :)

Hi Alex,
I am not in front of my machine: test to moving clip on the timeline with the snapping off.

I think there's an argument for either behavior, depending on whether you're adding one clip at a time or several (where you'd want the playhead to advance to the end), so some sort of switch would indeed be nice, but what's really aggravating in Windows is, if you add a clip from the Media Page to the T-L and then attempt to go its head frame (in the timeline) by pressing Up arrow (Previous Clip), that operation won't work -- you'll be moving through clips in the Media Page instead. Drives me crazy....

I completely agree :)
Would be nice to chose the behavior by holding shift or alt key.

I don't know if it already was written here but ...

I would be happy to find nested sequences and compuind clips with alpha-channel in the next Version of Resolve.

At all IMHO propper support of non-premultiplied Alpha needs to be improved.

Thanks

I think this wouldn't be too difficult. The preservation of Group names within compound clips. The Groupings are preserved (I can see the Link icon in the Color timeline), however the Group names are not. I mentioned this here: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=55238

On the color page - I'd love to have the ability to add flags at the Thumbnail level, as opposed to clip level. There are many many times I'd like to mark a shot in the color timeline without all the instances of that shot also getting that flag. Just want to drop a flag on a thumbnail please.

Resolve needs to have custom Copy and Paste functionality, a-la Adobe Lightroom. How cool would it be to copy just the primaries settings you've labored over, from one shot node to another, or just the luma qualification without all the color settings. Yes, I know you can plan ahead and do every single setting in a different node, but working like that can produce some pretty crazy node trees.

How bout hot keys for every single window and palette on the color page? It would quite nice to be able to map all those areas to my panel instead of having to reach for my mouse whenever I need to see the Luma Qualifier, or the Tracker, etc.

I wish I had the option of using the old curves editor interface. I miss the old editor. But I like the new editor. I can't make up my mind. Just give me both. Humor me.

On the color page - When I want to add a marker, I put the playhead at the location and press the key "m" (french keyboard).

This marker is then editable in the Edit tab (right click)

Try Grab Still and after right click on the still and select display node graph. Next select in the graph. (OK if you have a single node with lift+gamma+gain+etc.. is not easy to select)

Unfortunately, you can't see markers on the thumbnails. I want a way to mark, or flag, or put some sort of visible icon on a single shot (instance) thumbnail, like with a flag, but without flagging every instance of the clip, which is what flags do, which makes me sad.

Don't want to assume because you acquired them but roll in Ultimatte as a new Qualifier Tab or as an OFX Plugin into Resolve. Pleeeeeeeeeze.

i normal use this function for client review sessions, i have add/last/next/delete marker mapped to my Artist Transport keypad, and i add markers on the fly while screening the show, and then jump from marker to marker to check area's of concern.

helps client reviews go quickly, the timeline keeps rolling as i never need to click a mouse, once done it's easy to jump from marker to marker, tweak, delete marker and move on, when the markers are all gone, it time to review again, or export....

sort your timeline by markers to see the ones you want

i also have that fired by a macro that's mapped to Transport's kp, it's super, mega usefull.. high value tool, i also have sort timeline by selected, and sort timeline to all... right beside the four marker triggers

once again, a reason why i'm faster getting through a day with Artist Color/Transport than with Advanced ot Elements panels, it's down to the flexiablity gained by being able to map kb shortcuts and macro's as needed

previous next marker work with shift+up/down arrow on a french keyboard. These French! Why the keyboards are in AZERTY when the others are in QWERTY ...

M. add marker
alt/opt M - delete marker
shift + up/down arrow previous next marker

yup, those are the kb shortcuts i've mapped to Transport, the advantage to using the surface rather than the kb is being able to keep your eyes on the monitor while screening... avoiding taking eyes off screen to fumble around with the kb.... a 104 min feature is along time to keep your fingertip accuratly hovering over the "m" key, pretty easy to do with layout of the surface

but i have also used teamviewer to open the ui on my laptop, sat in the client chairs at the back of the room, and pressed "m" while sipping an espresso with my feet up... and no clients in the room

improve conflict / match column

in the edit page, edl list, there is a column for the clips that have a conflict unresolved called match. very useful.

i want a behaviour added:
no conflict: blank
conflict: x (searchable with the letter "x:)
conflict resolved: v ( searchable for :v:)

thanks

There's something about that I like and don't like. Depends on the client I guess. I"m going to sleep on that as an option. Hmmmm...

Let us know if you find one. There is not a single button version on the P.I. Engineering XKeys website.

maybe one of these;
http://xkeys.com/xkeys/xk3swi.php

and one of these;
http://xkeys.com/accessories/MicroLeverSwitch.php

would get me there, now it is worth $150 USD to my clients to have a button to press, and me to not have to listen to "MARK!" from the back of the room?

yea, maybe...

Kinda reminds me of back in the day when I did TD work on a Grass Valley switcher and the Director would snap his fingers to "initiate" a cut. ((Shudders)) Not the same thing but...

(sorry for the digression... more features! Thank you BMD!)

Optimized Media
Add Cineform as another option to DnX. The Codec is GPU accelerated and will be faster and smoother on the timeline for UHD/4K projects.
Thanks

Same experience with a Grass300 and CMX3600 rolling 6 x 1" VTR's in the early 80's.. the CMX let me build a EDL as it rolled and i switched camera's on the editor's kb..

a decade later in the early 90's an A84+ and a Axial2020, and 16 channels of disk array I/O for the same thing, but uncompressed D1 -and- random access now

it kinda went away by the mid 90's with Flame / Editbox / Cyborg2k / DS as you had to stop the machine to mark/change anything, so no way to "feel" the cut points in context withotu breaking the flow

I still have clients in 2017 that snap fingers for a marker... i'm thinking the remote button for them would be pretty awesome, Resolve dropping a marker while rolling is a real world usefull thing

when I had called them a while ago they said This probably was not possible as BM and Cineform saw themselves as competitors at the time, especially since Cineform was toying with making a camera. Cineform has now moved most of it's focus to GoPro products too so they were worried about that. It may happen now that GoPo is having it's issues but Would no hold my breath. Seems like they really do not get along. Also I think I remember John Brawley a few times saying that they really saw each other as competitors. Could be wrong but that was the takeaway I got from his posts on the matter.

Clayton,
I don't think there is a problem between BM and GoPro/Cineform.
I wanted to use Cineform as an intermediate edit codec and contacted Jake Segraves (Cineform Tech Support Manager) in 2015 when I found out Cineform had become free to use but they had discontinued all of the old Cineform conversion software. Jake was also in charge of the project which added Cineform support to Adobe CC products but I couldn't justify buying Media Encoder just to convert to Cineform. He worked with BM to add Cineform support to Resolve and suggested I try it.
The free GoPro Studio that includes Cineform can only input GoPro file formats and output to CineformHD 10 bit up to 4K MOV/AVI. (see attached)
Cineform is an excellent mezzanine 10 bit codec for Resolve users as unlike DNxHD and ProRes it is GPU accelerated - which would also make it a better choice for Optimized Media.

Here is more detailed info plus a video on Cineform by Dave Helmly including info on Cineform Raw.

I took this to mean that there was a menu item that allowed markers to be displayed on the thumbnails, but I see no option for that in the contextual menu. Did I misunderstand?

Hi Robert,

There is no problem: we have the menu entries flags and markers: you have to move the menu to the right ..etc.
