Yes, we also would like to get an explanation for that, since it was proposed to deliver all the april backorders first..

It hurts a bit to hear that nov/dec orders are delivering and (at least partly) pre-paid orders from april, like ours, are hanging, without any informations....

I truthfully have no idea, sorry.

My January 3rd order just shipped thanks to *Helen,* who may or may not be a magical fairy or wizard of some sort. If you are in the US and waiting for B&H I think you should strongly consider switching your order over or at least placing an order with both and canceling the other when one ships. Aren't there supposed to be like 3000 preorders at B&H from april - now?

ABBA - HEY HEY HELEN

So at last you're free
It's the way you wanted it to be
And the price you pay
To become a woman of today

Is it worth the pain to see the children cry?
Does it hurt when they ask for Daddy?

Hey hey Helen
Now you live on your own
Hey hey Helen
Can you make it alone?
(Yes you can)

So you're free at last
And beginning to forget the past
Does it make you sad
When you think about the life you had?

But you're right, you had to take a second chance
So you fight to find your freedom

Hey hey Helen
Now you live on your own
Hey hey Helen
Can you make it alone?

Hey hey Helen
(Hey hey Helen)
What's the matter with you?
Hey hey Helen
(Hey hey Helen)
Don't you know what to do?
(Yes you do)

Ah ha, yes you do, yes you do
Ah ha, yes you do, yes you do

Hey hey Helen
Now you live on your own
Hey hey Helen
Can you make it alone?

Hey hey Helen

I did exactly that. I have a late September pre-order at B&H, but decided to add another order at Adorama in January. I did it late enough that it might not matter in terms of getting me a cam faster, but I also liked Adorama's Swintronix deal. I figure, if both of them ship on the same day, I'll find a way to make sure Tom gets one of mine at the same price I paid!

Helen's presence here -- her clear answers to questions and her interest in nipping problems at the bud -- really impresses me. This is the second time that I have seen this from Adorama. The first time was nearly a year ago when someone from Adorama (Helen, probably) showed up on some Canon forums to address questions/concerns about 5D Mark III pre-orders.

I've had similarly good customer service experiences with B&H. There is a reason that B&H and Adorama do so much business. They know how to treat customers. I've said it before on these forums: other companies (one in particular) could learn quite a bit from them.

Just so you know, B&H matches the Adorama kit with the switronix powerbase. Just call them and they will change your order to that if you have already placed one.
Ordered From: B&H
Order Date: 09/16/2012
Delivery: Not yet....

We do ship internationally to over 200 countries! But as we are a family business, and the boss likes to come into the office over the store every day, expansion outside of NYC isn't likely right now. I'm sorry.

Now I hope I am remembering this correctly but I thought I had heard that one of your large competitors in the US also does not require payment until the order ships but that large and well-respected competitor does require payment in full for international orders. Do you also require payment in full up front if the order is from a far away land, say like, Canada?

No! We only charge when order ships - tho' banks usually put a pre-authorization hold on a cc while they check it isn't a fraudulent transaction. But these funds do not transfer to us, and if we haven't shipped the order within about a week, that pre-authorization should drop off automatically.

BTW we now have a new shipping option to Canada - Bilsi - which enables pre-payment of taxes etc up front, and gives a much more competitive shipping rate than UPS / FedEx. Feedback from customers has been very positive, so far; a couple of teething problems but generally we are very happy that we've been able to introduce this.

Thanks, Helen. The hassle free shipping to Canada with all broker, tax, duty/excise fees prepaid at time of shipping is very nice. I'm waiting a few months for the availability of more SLR Magic Ciné T0.95 Hyperprimes (25mm, 35mm, 85mm) and my budget. But I like what I saw.

Wow, that's great! I can't believe it's taken this long and that UPS/FEDEX have never done this, but good job Adorama!!

Hi Helen,

Are you able to advise the difference between 'backordered' and 'pending' in the Adorama order system?

Is there a distinction?

Thanks for your help and being active on this forum!

Back ordered means that there are none on the shelves; pending should mean that a sufficient number have been unpacked that once they are shelved and added to the inventory, there should be enough in stock for yours to be shipped.

Unless Adorama gets all of it's backorders from Blackmagic this next week our commercial season will have to be shot without the BMC. There is always 2014.

So lets recap... The 2 biggest distributors in the US have nearly completed all backorders and people in Europe are still waiting on their APRIL orders to come through. The largest UK distributor Creative Video are only getting 2 cameras a week! This is disgraceful. As if delaying the mft wasn't enough the whole speech about equal distribution is just nonsense. Time to stop sending BMCs to America and get the European orders fulfilled!

Well it is unfortunate that Europe gets just as many units as America, and Japan, just think once those territories are filled EU should get double or triple the units. But how many retailers are there in Europe? A hundred? over here in the US there's like 4 or 5 that people would order from (mainly just 2). Also remember there is a delay between sensors shipped, to cameras built, tested, packaged, shipped from Australia which if its by sea takes awhile, then distributed to resellers which for costs sake may take a few days. Must be a logistics nightmare.

I've been w8ing on mine at Omega Broadcast in Austin, Texas since 4/27/12. They were on the so called approved resellers list when I first looked at it. Had BMD informed me that there were US retailers who would get many cameras before others got two, I might have preordered at B&H and would have mine by now. Instead, they (again) kept that information proprietary and spouted some semantic nonsense about "equal distribution". Now it seems "equal distribution" meant equal to the BMD Distributors where the inequality would happen as BMCs went to the preferred retailers. All very frustrating and very disheartening.

We don't have "preferred retailers"... Cameras are being distributed from the regional distributors to resellers primarily based on when the resellers ordered with us and how many cameras were in their order. We don't know how long their pre-order lists are.

I just called Safe Harbor to see where I was in their preorder line. They told me they've received only a few and haven't even made a dent in their April preorders. I ordered mine in July. Feeling pretty bad.

Thanks for the info Marc, it gives me more of a perspective on things, not just as simple as more BMCs going to the US cameras than anywhere else, a much more complex picture it seems.

...and that is (as Frank Zappa called it) the crux of the biscuit. We didn't know when resellers ordered with BMD nor how many cameras were in their order. If anything had been said about this back in April, I think most all of us would have placed our orders with the big guys (i.e., B&H), but "equal distribution" can be taken to mean "equal distribution" so some of us went with the smaller (local) retailers...It's a semantic game you see. Too bad I lost the game, huh?

There's no reason to it, it's a reseller lottery.

Large resellers like Adorama are now filling orders from Dec/January, B&H (probably largest of them all) is now filling orders from June, whereas CVP (arguably the largest reseller in Europe and who ordered on the day of announcement) have had only 10 units and are still filling orders from the first 48 hours after the camera was announced.

We're told that BMD ship to equal numbers to regional distributors. What happens after that nobody knows, except that the distribution to actual resellers is horribly skewed.

Is it me, or does it seem like fewer cameras are shipping (or, at least being received by Adorama or B&H) lately?

It does seem like that, been pretty quite on the boards. There is the possibility though that people are so excited to finally get their camera they just don't bother going to the forum anymore.

There is a rep from Adorama and B&H on here, I wonder if they have anymore insight.

Well I'll add some life;
I just ordered my MFT bundle (sans power, i went with camera top handle ect) from Adorama (and thrilled I did given the support from Helen I'm seeing on here. This is my first Adorama purchase as I'm normally a BH Guy) but anyway. I ordered today, and of course got the back-ordered message, which I knew of-- and I'd expect the camera sometime in April... maybe? who knows.
It's ok, I would say I'm in no rush; but that's a lie-- rather I just have all of march booked up with travel back to Phila and some shoots that I'd not be using a BMD till sometime in May-- so hopefully it'll ship by then. We shall see.

Anyone know how often or if at all Adorama sends e-mail updates on your shipping status? I know I tend to get 1 every 1-2 weeks from B&H.

I just got an e-mail from Adorama saying that my credit card was declined specifically for my BMCC EF mount. Called the credit card company and they don't have any idea why. So, we'll have to get this straightened out. I hope that means that Adorama anticipates shipping my BMCC in the near future. Unfortunately, since it is Saturday, I'll have to spend the weekend in anticipation that is more anxious than normal!

I've just joined this forum and I have to say it makes pretty depressing reading. I ordered a BMCC from CVP (a big dealer in the UK - on Blackmagic's authorised list) on 23rd April 2012 and I'm still waiting for it, so I'm unhappy to read about people in the USA taking delivery of theirs having placed orders as late as last month. Of course I don't blame the US customers and I hope they're enjoying their cameras, but it it doesn't say much for Blackmagic's ability to handle the demand fairly.

Blackmagic has told me - and I think it's been said here as well - that they're sending the same number of cameras to each of their offices (which I take to mean the six listed on the company's website - USA, Europe (UK), Australia, Asia (Singapore), China and Japan), as if that's an indication of fairness. If the policy results in American customers now getting their cameras almost immediately whilst Europeans are still waiting after 10 months, then something has obviously gone badly wrong.

Could the disparity be because the UK office covers the whole of Europe, the Middle East and South Africa, which have a combined population three times that of the USA?

I certainly could have to do with the sheer number of countries/people in those regions, yes. As well, lord only know what kind of import/tarrif things... For the US, it's kind of easy-- one and done. Also assuming these things are coming from China area, it's a quick trip to the Long Beach docks, and then 2-3 days on a train/truck to get anywhere in the US.
