Intensity Pro Shuttle and Dell XPS 15z

PostWed Sep 05, 2012 5:06 am

I was wondering whether the black magic intensity pro will work with my dell xps 15z laptop. The laptop says it has USB 3.0, so I was wondering whether it could support capturing.

What brand of USB 3.0 controller is it using? Look in Device Manager to find out.

It says Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller, or Intel(R) Series/c200 Series Chipset Family USB Enhanced Host Controller 1c26 and 1c2d.

It should work, just make sure you're using the latest Reneas drivers and firmware.

They can be found here:

I have heard from various customers like on the amazon website http://www.amazon.com/Blackmagic-Design-Intensity-Computers-Professional/product-reviews/B003WSQTWU/ref=cm_cr_dp_see_all_btm?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=1&sortBy=bySubmissionDateDescending that the shuttle will only work with certain motherboards and I'm very worried that once I buy the shuttle it will not work with my laptop, like all these people have said. I'm still unsure as to whether I should get this even if the usb 3.0 works.

Yeah, it's kind of hit and miss. My laptop actually has a Fresno controller in it (not Reneas), and it works with it. I may have just gotten lucky.

I guess you could always try it, and if it doesn't work, send it back. Or try to find someone in your area that has one, for you to test.
