URGENT: contrast/blacks removed in 14b6

PostMon Aug 14, 2017 3:03 am

In both viewers from the edit tab and the color tab, the blacks level change every time I play the footage or even move 1 frame forward. Last time I had color graded it for this look and now its all milky. Why would it change???

This is a HUGE problem as Resolve is a color grading software. Please fix it!

If I move of only 1 frame it goes from contrasty to milky. It doesn't change the actually settings though. Its what I am seeing in the viewer.

I've not noticed this on any version of the beta in my own work using CinemaDNG and ProRes from the BMPCC on Windows 10.

Is it possibly a media related error?

This is a huge issue indeed! DaVinci needs to do something about it! We are talking about a color grading software messing with with color grading for god's sake.

So far, you're the only one reporting it. That would indicate not a software bug, but a system issue.

In 5 years using Resolve, I've never had this problem.

If you are using resolve for 5 years you should by now also know how to properly report an error with any hope of getting it fixed. There are multiple posts with instruction.
Screaming Urgent (on a beta , which you seem to insist on doing in multiple posts ??) and tellig us that resolve is a color program (we know) , wil not help. If it is urgent and important use 12.5.6.
Theh for the 14 issue , like we all do , just send you project with clear description to BM .
If its realy a bug they may fix it.

nope, no problems with that here...so guessing not a software issue.

You do know how to export a log from resolve and send to BMD asking for help?

Ben, on at least two occasions, BMD has replied to your posts by giving further instructions and/or asking for clarifying information.

viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62569&p=354714#p354714

viewtopic.php?f=31&t=62010&p=351435#p351435

And you've been totally quiet. Add to that the good instructions other users have offered which you seem to have ignored, and it's all rather perplexing.

You post about URGENT problems, but also seem unwilling to provide information requested to help replicate the problems and possibly fix them.

This is really frustrating as when I open it, the color correction does not apply. Everything is washed down. Sometimes. Some color grading comes back on certain frames. This is very chaotic. This stops me from exporting the damn thing.

Your whining and complaining won't help solve the issue, as long as you continue to refuse to reveal your hardware and OS configuration. It's like you're calling the doctors office, telling the doctor "I'm sick...make me feel better!", but you never tell them any important info like your vitals, medical history, medications you might be taking etc.

Your problem sounds like a classic GPU related issue. But you won't get any help from anyone if you don't say what GPU(s) you are running, or even the most basic info about your system configuration (e.g. OS, OS version, RAM, GPU driver version etc)

And you certainly won't get much help by perpetuating stereotypes of how entitled L.A. "Director" types tend behave around others when they want their way with things. The public beta program exists for a reason: For users to find and constructively report the things that may be broken in the software. It's not an "early access" program, akin to being allowed to jump over the velvet rope at a motion picture premier.

As has been already said, if Resolve 14 beta is too unstable for you, don't use it. Resolve 12.5.6 works just fine. But please stop with your snide insinuations that BMD doesn't care, are incompetent, or are ignoring your problems. Aside from being insanely wrong, that's not what the beta program is for.

I declare benwalterdirector unless proven otherwise an internet troll.
A non existent virtual user, maybe paid by adobe or avid, to just troll this forum with all kinds of urgent problems and ingnoring any user or BM requests for info or help or sugestions, while continuing to troll and declare resolve as a bad useless product and why he can not run prodction with a beta product.

Edit: his username should have flagged some red lights already btw

If I understand correctly, we are in the presence of agent 0_ double -7.

Hum: I'm going to talk with Miss Moneypenny. :)

I've tried it on both the new Macbook and the new iMac and it gives me washed out footage for some of it.

This is so frustrating. Anyone of you has any idea? Might be the beta.

To reach this level of problem, I would give Blackmagic all the requested information.
