URSA Brodcast with Camera Fiber Converter to Clearcom

PostFri Feb 02, 2018 5:08 am

I want to use a clear com Partyline system with the new Blackmagic Fiber modules, how would i connect a The CS-70 to my cameras? Would i have to go through the ATEM switcher or do I need a separate part to interface with the native intercom on the fiber module?

If that wasn't clear, I want to hook up a clear com system to the built in intercom that comes with the cameras studio SMPTE fiber module.

You would connect it via the 25 pin D-sub in the back of the Blackmagic Studio Fiber Converter.

Pin outs are provided in the URSA Broadcast manual.

Where can I find a breakout cable for this?

the pinout for the breakout cable is in the user guide. if they don't offer a pre-made cable it would be easy enough to build one. the studio converter, like most other BMD intercom offerings has 4W intercom. you will also need to convert to 2W format before you can connect it to your existing partly line system.

I have the Clear Com MS702 base station, and my understanding is that you use the IF4W4 interface along with a db25 cable that goes to your Blackmagic fiber CCUs. I ordered a db25 like this one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... _DB25.html with 4 XLRM and 4XLRF.

Has anyone gotten this combo to work with either Clear Com or RTS/Telex?

That snake is a non starter. There are 2 common DB25 to AES pinouts and neither accomodate the configuration you're using. Try using DB25 terminal blocks, easy breezy.
