Davinci Resolve 15 anounced

PostSun Apr 08, 2018 11:30 pm

BMD quietly announced Davinci Resolve 15 at the NAB. As opposed to DR 14, this time no Betas and no mention at the forum.

Yeah, probably a leak since it's not on BMD's web site yet... but the image on the banner shows a Fusion node tree with a Resolve timeline...

Because banner says "Fusion Visual Effects." I assume Fusion Visual Effects or Fusion will be merged with Davinci Resolve 15. I hope mystery will be resolved within a couple of days. I patiently look forward to DR 15 :-)

Look at the image in my other post...

I have a feeling that BMD is letting this one out a bit early because so many people already guessed that it was coming.

Thanks Pavel. From the very last post from Abdul Majeed, it is clear in the BMD poster that Resolve 15 will have Fusion VFX, Titles and Paint, together with 250 FX in Resolve 15.

I just read the whole changelog.

...

I think every single major complaint I had with DR14 is fixed (assuming they work as advertised). And, like, 100 things I didn't even bother to ask for.

What kind of drugs are you giving the BMD engineers to let them do this? Can I get some of them?

Anyone having issues saving projects in DaVinci Resolve 15?

Best,

Fabián

EDIT: Reinstalled the Beta and I was able to save again for a little while, but then went back to the bug. Unfortunately, I'll have to downgrade to 14.3 for now.

Oh.. Only that $109.07B (Mkt Cap) company also known to be owner of Photoshop among a few other tools.

Adobe isn't going anywhere soon. No need to gloat over an upgrade, as good as it may be.

Of course, it will not kill Adobe; people are just having fun. But, you have to admit this can shake up Adobe's foothold quite a bit. Resolve 15 is Premiere + Audition + After Effects + SpeedGrade and it is all integrated into one piece of software that's $300 and has an incredibly capable free version. All integration into one piece of software is something Adobe isn't doing. Fixed price point destroys cloud payments. Free version absolutely demolishes Adobe.

The real power of 15 is the way it will jump right into the hands of students and hobbyists that will, later on, join the industry. The functionality and price point makes it amazing for those people. It will not kill Adobe overnight but the next generation will learn on Resolve, not Adobe.

Sure, Adobe has Photoshop and Lightroom and other non-film software. But if Resolve keeps evolving like this, that's all they'll have.

Do we know (or suspect) any changes to the hardware requirements, especially now with the integration of Fusion?

I'll be buying a new computer in May, so it's a pertinent question. ;)

Hi Brad.

At the 2nd latest section of this link did I read under: Minimum system requirements:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=71881

'16 GB of system memory is recommended and 32 GB is recommended minimum when using Fusion
Please see the readme for your OS for further details'

Question for those who downloaded it: does the Fusion tab support 3D re-lighting effects? Like, if your cinematographer's lighting on a shot sucks, and you need to digitally "re-light" it? I know the full version of Fusion can do that, but I wonder if the version on the DR15 can do that too. I can't install it myself atm unfortunately, so I ask here... Thx!

So this is it, Fusion become the Smoke-like i was waiting so long for.
Haha, now, I hope they do not forget about scripting, text editable projects and Fusion as a studio pipeline tool.
Oh? and what about TGA files? i heard that Resolve can't load them...

Well give the devs at BMD a chance :D, withour any inside knowlage this it just a guess on my part, but With the way resolve is progressibg ir would nut surprise me if thoes fearures arrove in the next couple of years. But at $300 for a license that includes major version upgrades (Adudesk charges the same for one month of Nuke subscription) is it really realistic to expect most if the Nuke features on top of. What resolve already brings to the table?

If Fusion is not be availlable as standalone,
No VFX studio will wait a couple of years that BM will developped the scripts & pipeline parts.
They are going to move to Nuke or stay with Fu7.

No node for renderfarm, no scripting, no plugin compatibility, no editable projects, etc = no more serious pipeline with Fusion.
