Jerky Playback...

PostSun Apr 22, 2018 6:51 pm

Hi everyone… newbie here.

I'm running DaVinci Resolve 15 on a Mac Pro with 2x 3.33GHz 6-Core processors, 48GB of ram and a ATI Radeon HD 5770 graphics card with 1024MB of ram.

When I try working with 4K footage, it plays (at best) all jerky.
As I import the footage I get the window asking me if I want to change the project's settings to match the footage's, to which I say yes, but it still plays jerky.

Are there any other settings I need to be aware of in order to help smooth playback?

Thanks in advance,
E.C.

Your GPU is massively underpowered for 4K. Please check the system requirements.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Your machine should be usable for Resolve but that graphics card is very underpowered and won't be good enough. I would suggest a GTX 1070 to get things moving properly, just do your research on what drivers you need and install them before you install the card. You'll need to be running Sierra.

Make sure you use a HD timeline for your 4k footage, you can always render out at 4k later on.
