Replace Material Fusion Issue : V15.0.0B.037

PostMon Apr 30, 2018 1:53 am

How's everyone doing today? I couldn't find anyone else having this issue, but I apologize if it has already been brought up; or, in all likelihood, stems from EU error.

I'm trying to translate some of my standalone Fusion techniques into my newly updated Resolve Beta 15.0.0B.037, and scratching my head at an issue I'm running into.

I'm trying to apply a wood grain texture (VIA a jpg) to Text3D, by piping the text and the image (MediaIn node, but I want to call it Loader) into a ReplaceMaterial node before the Render3D and then the Tracker, but it's just not working. The text displays and tracks along the clip just fine as a solid color, but as soon as I link the MediaIn for the texture it disappears. I tried pushing forward and putting a UVMap in to see if it was a temporary glitch with rendering, no luck.

I also tried changing the shading in the Text3D to image and piped the MediaIn node in that way, which didn't help either.

I have used the same jpg for this purpose in Fusion 9, and the image is accurate in my Media Pool in Resolve 15b.

I noticed the Global In/Out/Render range for the MediaIn is set to an unalterable 0 frames, which I think is the root of my problem.

Any advice, or people also having issues applying textures like that?

I had a similar problem yesterday: I tried to have a jpg as a screen replacement, and, as you say, couldn't change the duration.
My workaround: Import the picture on the media page, put it in some timeline on edit page and drag it to the desired length, create a compound clip out of it and use that as the new picture on the fusion page out of the media bin.

Any other ways to get there are welcome.

That does the trick, thanks Thomas! It's also re-assuring to know I'm not the only one, I was worried there was another setting or option hidden away somewhere and was driving myself crazy trying to find it.

Just add a time stretcher node after the loader/MediaIn node
Resolve just uses the lenght from the media and don't loop single frame footage

OK, another node then... in the old loader node there was a button called "loop". Wish that came back for these occasions.

But still thank you, it seems to be a bit less work to just add another node.
