Colored dots in the shadows - Canon C200 RAW light

PostSun Jun 17, 2018 6:42 pm

hi all

I tried to apply manual corrections to Canon Cinema Gamut/Canon Log 2 file without using LUT from Canon in the latest Beta 5. It resulted in the appearence of number of colored green/red dots in the shadow areas when I cranked the saturation lever.

Config: Intel i9-7900X, 2X1080TI, Nvidia 398.11 driver, Windows 10 Pro

Maybe they are just there? Every camera has some noise in the shadows, colored noise too. If you crank anything up, it may show.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Hi Uli Plank, these dots look more like erroneously put black level in the developing software than just chroma noise. Recently I'd come across with mlv files from Canon 5DIII, theere the same problem rised.

Interestingly, if I put the LUT on clips - then shadows are clean, i.e. the issue disappers.
