PostMon Jun 18, 2018 11:37 pm

b5 will not run.
Here is the error message I get when I try to run b5
"The procedure entry point clEnqeueMarkerWithWaitList could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\ProgramFiles\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Resolve.exe."

Did b4 or any other Resolve version from 14.3 on work in your system? Or is b5 the first time you've installed Resolve?

We need a Resolve log and also a Windows System Information .NFO file to help with this.

All versons of 14 plus 15b1,2 and 3 worked fine.
I had a win BSOD that required restoring Win10 from backup.
Neither 15b4 or 5 have worked since then.
I can use wesendit to get the two files to you. Let me know who to send them to.
Thanks.

The only way I know of getting files to you without having to buy online storage or whatever is to use wesendit. This means I need an email address to send it to. PM I guess stands for private message. That means facebook to me. Is facebook going tpo work for you?
Wesendit really is the easiest though.

There are lots of cloud services like Dropbox that offer a limited space for free. Upload and then post the link with a space somewhere in it so it's not seen as a URL.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Your GTX 560Ti card is not capable of running Resolve 15.

It's not capable of running Resolve 14 either, although it may have sorta kinda worked in OpenCL mode.

Regarding your BSOD and restoring from a Win10 backup. None of the Resolve stuff came across properly.

So I would advise you to follow the process in my last post in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=71142&hilit=+regedit

And also rename the C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve folder to something else, like DaVinci Resolve.old

Then reinstall Resolve. If 15b3 really was working, it must have been in OpenCL mode, so maybe that will still work in b5, but your GPU is really not suitable to running Resolve 15.

I'm almost out of suggestions. I would guess at this point that however you restored Win10 from a backup after your BSOD might have the system in a weird state.

So my last suggestion would be a clean install of Windows 10.

OK, thankyou for your help.
I will have to figure out how to do a clean instal seeing as how this was a free upgrade from win7 and I don't have any disks. Sigh!

OK, I've got the updated files and the .nfo is here as a zip file. The Davinci log stuff is too big - I've deleted the dropbox stuff I had, actually it's disappeared allong with the clean instal of win10. You sent me a url last time, please send again so I can send the log file. Thanks. Ahh it's not accepting the zip file. OK I'll remove it.

OK, I have no idea what you are doing.

You say you've done a clean install of Windows 10. Based on the new NFO file, I can believe that may be true.

But in that case, I would expect all the Resolve logs to be very new.

In the 2nd log file you've sent, the Resolve logs are dated 5-1-2017 and are using an early Resolve 14.0 beta. Not what I would expect on a freshly built Windows 10 drive.

So, are you copying over Resolve stuff from another drive onto your fresh Window 10 drive? If so, that's a bad plan.

Here is my routine for doing a "clean" instal of win10:

I have a copy of win7 on an SSD.
I clone that to another SSD (so I always have a backup).
On the newly cloned SSD I do an upgrade to win10.
I then instal 15b5.
15b5 does not run.
----------------
If I had a disk of win 10 that installed by itself then that is what I would use - after first formating the SSD. But that is not how MS seems to want us to proceed nowadays...
What alternatives are there?
---------------------------
14 all builds and 15b1, 2 & 3 worked fine until the cloned SSD failed - that was when the problems with b4 & b5 occured.

OK, since there appears to be crap Resolve data on this cloned drive you've done the Win10 update on, we need to get rid of all that.

If Resolve is listed in Windows Control Panel - Programs and Features, then right click it and select Remove.

If that is successful, the C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve folder should be gone. Verify that that's the case.

If Resolve is NOT listed in Programs and Features, see if the C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve folder exists. If so, delete it.

Then, delete the C:\ProgramData\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve folder.

Now install Resolve 15b5.

Now does it work? If not, provide a new log.

I have new nfo and zip files for you.

OK, now there are no logs at all. So I guess Resolve is crashing so quickly, no logs are being generated.

There is also nothing Resolve related in the Windows error log.

I am out of ideas. I go back to my original suggestion: do a clean install of Windows 10.

And by clean, I mean a complete reinstall of Windows 10 from scratch, NOT an update from Windows 7.

If that means buying a Windows 10 license, then that's probably what you'll need to do, if you want Resolve to work on the system.

You might try downloading and installing the latest drivers for your graphics card. Maybe the BSOD corrupted the openCL files.

Alright - it's working fine.
I had to do a clean instal of win10 - which I couldn't do before because I was missing a crucial piece of the puzzle - mbr2gpt - THAT is the secret.
My SSD was mbr and win10 needs gpt.
Once I had converted my SSD (and my BIOS) win10 loaded fresh and the fun of installing all my apps began. But Resolve15 b5 works like a charm - I haven't done anything with it as I'm much too busy reinstalling all my apps.
Thanks everyone - mbr2gpt - keep it in mind for others.
