Magiclantern mlv with Metal problem

Hello.

Thank you for your efforts in developing the program.
DaVinci Resolve 15 Beta 3 to 5 There is a problem that when importing a dng file converted from the mlv file of a magic lantern, colors such as green and magenta appear on the screen. I've posted this on the forum before, but I could not find a solution.
I reinstalled macOS and tried again, but the same symptoms occurred. So I started to look at the option of DaVinci Resolve, and by chance I found a solution.

Preferences - Configuration - System Configuration - GPU processing mode. I changed "Auto" to "CUDA" or "OpenCL" and the clip appeared normally. If you change this to "Metal", the same problem occurs again.

When I saw this phenomenon, I thought it would be nice to be able to do normal work in "Metal" too.

In addition, I hope to be able to import and edit Magic lantern mlv files directly from DaVinci Resolv, without converting them to dng or any files.

Thank you very much.

Can you provide a link to a sample?

Hello.
Thanks for your ripple.
Here is a link to a short file of mlv I have.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GqMSK ... zBs6AMFYS-

In my case, not only this clip but all of the clips shot with a magic lantern show the same symptoms. I did not have this problem until I used DaVinci Resolve 15 Beta 2. This problem has occurred since 15 beta 3. So I think there will be no problems at the clip. Anyway, add my system information as a reference.

CPU: i7-4770K
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4095 MB
OS: macOS High Sierra 10.13.5
NVIDIA Web Driver: 387.10.10.10.35.106
CUDA Driver Version: 396.64
magiclantern version: magiclantern-crop_rec_4k.2018Mar10.5D3113

In addition, I hope to be able to import and edit Magic lantern mlv files directly from DaVinci Resolv, without converting them to dng or any files. Because converting mlv files to dng files takes a lot of time and energy.

Thank you.

What are you using to convert the .mlv file?

I mainly use MLV App 0.16alpha and occasionally Switch or MLVFS.

https://bitbucket.org/Dannephoto/switch ... Switch.dmg

I just imported a clip that was converted into two programs. I noticed that the colors of the two clips were similar but slightly different.

Hey,
Excuse me guys, I won'gt bother you too long, but does this imply that on a mac, "auto" = metal ?

Well, not sure about that, but I know Metal was not really doing well under Sierra.
Rather use OpenCL under Sierra or go for High Sierra.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Well, about the OP, why not CUDA instead.

Personally I've chosen it and won't change for sure, but I read here that choosing auto implied a problem with metal, which allow us to think Resolve "automatically" chooses Metal on macs if nothing else is chosen. So Dwaine or Peter, is this true ?

As I have been stugggling to get METAL to work with RED footage on a MacPro (same sort of random noise errors - not quite quite as colourful though) - I think it’s safe to say that AUTO = OpenCL (because I don’t get the errors in AUTO).

Hi, sorry if I re-open this old discussion, but I'd like to know if now the problem is solved?

I'm asking this because I'm planning an upgrade for my computer from CUDA-based Hackintosh to METAL-based Hackintosh:
My actual set:
- Hackintosh with 3x Titan X Maxwell 12GB (CUDA);
- OS Sierra 10.12.6;
- Davinci 15;
- MagicLantern MLV workflow (Switch, MLVFS).

My planned upgrade:
- Hackintosh with 2x Radeon VII (METAL);
- OS Mojave 10.14;
- Davinci 16;
- MagicLantern MLV workflow (Switch, MLVFS, MLV App).

Now, my workflow is strictly based on MagicLantern and Davinci, so it's fundamental to me that they communicate!

So, is there any news about MagicLantern cDNG issues in Davinci on Metal-based workstation?
