Angelbird SSD

PostThu Jul 19, 2018 2:21 pm

I have a Shuttle 2 that I was using with an OWC SSD. The OWC started dropping frames while recording so I bought an Angelbird (i saw it on a list of approved SSDs). I formatted the Angelbird in exFAT like the OWC but the shuttle 2 doesn't recognize it and won't let me record. Any idea why this might be happening? I tried Mac OS Extended (HFS+) but it still didn't work.

There are a few Angelbird models that are not compatible with the HyperDeck Shuttle. Can you verify the model you have is not one of those?

I found this document online and it listed the Angelbird AV Pro 500GB model which is the one I have:

Edit: It's the mk3 version, but the list of supported drives didn't specify that

I'm not sure how old that documentation is but there seems to be some missing information. In any case, you can find the most current version on the support page here.

Fair Enough. I looked at the recent list you posted. I *think* this is the one I have:

Angelbird AVP500MK3 A2GMX52 500 GB

However, I can't seem to find anything that says A2GMX52. What does that refer to? I looked on the Angelbird website and didn't find anything referencing that. Otherwise, everything else is the same SKU/Model Number matches as does the size. I've formatted multiple times, from multiple computers, using different file systems and nothing works.

Works on our Hyperdeck Studio recorder just fine.

Did you format it with the HyperDeck Studio and then try recording with the Shuttle or was the formatting you did to the SSD via a computer?

Both. I tried on a PC and a Mac. Both as exFAT and Mac OS Journaled (even NTFS knowing that wouldn't work).

I also used the Hyperdeck Studio to format as exFAT and HFS+. I recorded a test with the HS and it worked fine. When i tried to record with the Shuttle it either didn't recognize it or the SSD light was red.

To add to this, I don't think it's a bad drive because I have two of the exact same model and they both do the same thing.
