What shutter angles are available?

I remember seeing the available shutter angles somewhere but can´t find it anywhere, anyone can help me? It would be really nice to be able to punch in the desired shutter angle manually but if not I´d like to know if 108, 216 or 324 are available?

Anyone? Not being able to use 108, 216 or 324 would make 30fps useless in run and gun situations in 50hz countries. Not always you have the time or want to unscrew every tube in a big location, my old magnetic ballast HMIs would also flicker.

This is very important for me. I'm based in the US and shoot most everything at 29.97 fps. When I travel to any country with PAL or 50 cycle power, I simply set the shutter on my 7D from the 1/60 where it usually stays to 1/50 and all flicker is gone...problem solved. Please give us a solution in the BMC.

So you would be satisfied if at least a shutter angle of 216 was available, i.e. providing 1/50 sec exposure for ~30fps?

I guess so...I'm very new to this shutter angle thing. I suppose I could also shoot at 25fps and 180 degrees when overseas too. Right? Most all my stuff ends up on an Intranet so FPS isn't super critical for me.

I´m not sure if they´re already in but for the 23,976 shooters in PAL Land shutter speeds of 1/100 and 1/200 would be great. Don´t know what it´s in angles...

Never shot 23.98fps (always 24fps or 25fps) but as we have 50Hz you want it open for 0.02s when shooting normal shots (one full cycle to avoid flicker, 1/50) 0.02 x 23.98 (the specs in the manual says 23.98 and not 23.976) x 360 = 172.656

1/100 would be 86.328
1/200 would be 43.164

Just use the above formula to calculate flicker free angles

The camera actually uses the true value eg. 24/1.001 which is about 23.9760; they just simply round it in the manual and call it 23.98 but all the broadcast NTSC rates should really be stated as 23.976 etc.

Not at all familiar with the NTSC standards but 23.976 would in theory give the angles below (never seen them as alternative in any filmcamera but I haven´t been looking either) in 50Hz contries. 24fps and 172.8 would be the way I´d go and just conform it to 23.976 in post. We change 25fps to 24fps and the other way around all the time. I must say that I don´t work in post and I´m not a producer so don´t know anything about problems with pitching the sound a.s.o. but I worked on some features shot on 24fps and some on 25fps both having theatrical distribution.
