Aside from what I said earlier here about better features for working with audio, I'd like to see a MUCH more straightforward way to make/import precise graphics in Fusion like you can in Adobe Illustrator and then animate them directly.

What about adding snap-to features (as has been said earlier by someone else on this thread) and better SVG import options (like dragging and dropping in SVGs directly into Fusion and having them appear as paint nodes or polylines)

and also an easy switch back and forth between polyline and paint stroke nodes because they're basically the same thing as far as spline curves/vectors.

Fusion has the potential to be on the same level as After Effects in terms of motion graphics and I'd love to see this become a widely-used alternative to AE.

I'd really like to hear back from you guys!

+1
- Better features for working with audio
- Illustrator .ai file support

tristanbay wrote:What about adding snap-to features (as has been said earlier by someone else on this thread)

+1
We need a very extensive "align to" feature.
Align to view, align to object etc.

That is my dream.
That's why I'm a little annoyed by blackmagic, because Fusion is a great VFX package, and the last major update made big steps forward in this regard, but the small motion graphics stuff is still missing. Small and simple features we need for motion graphics. Like shape layers, align options, .ai file import.
It could be so easy to become a serious After Effects competitor.
Fusion has already better 3D capabilities than AE.
It's just some 2D stuff that's missing.

And: 3D Extrusion of vector graphics and splines would be great! Make use of the awesome true 3D space Fusion has.

If you have Fusion Studio, Krokodove has you covered there. It's a little bit over-complicated, but extruding a vector can be done. Look up the Muse VFX Legion press release thread at Steakunderwater. I posted a set-up there that shows it in use.

I would like to see Fusion 10 actually using my idle GPU instead of those 100% CPU and 1% GPU usage :(

There is a plug-in called CustomShader available that lets you write OpenGL shaders for Fusion's 3d system. It takes a few syntax changes to make Shadertoy code work. And if he sells enough of those, maybe eventually we'll get that PBR bundle! So buy it! You can also write 2d fragment shaders in an OpenCL Fuse. I have a sort-of tutorial series on how to do that on my blog.

Hmmm… on that topic, I have a request (and maybe I've made this one already up the thread; I don't remember). We need a 3D Fuse API. It'd be great to be able to make new 3d tools without having to make a plug-in.

There was, at one point, documentation for 3D Fuses on VFXPedia. So it was at least considered. If BDP is seriously going to kill the native plugins for Fusion, they should only do so after building out Fuses considerably more. That's just my opinion, though.

Would love to port some image, modifier, and 3D plugins to Resolve, but BDP is more interested in ResolveFX than SDK support. :?

@Bryan Ray: thanks for the hint, looks very promising, but as long as it is not sure if Fusion will die or not I am not spending any cent for a third party tool.

Still waiting for a statement of Bmd. If they kill Fusion we all have to switch to Natron or Nuke (which costs a fortune). Fusion in Resolve does not work on Linux and we all have to deliver our projects... its a shame..

i don't like jumping from resolve to fusion, so as a nuke user since nuke 9 and nuke 11, i would love to have a complete compositing package without having to jump from 2 separate software

so i would like to see a model builder with uv texturing in fusion 10, now that would shape a new dimension for fusion 10 in the future for 3d artists such as myself and countless others

i also want to use sound in compositing so i can hear and edit what i'm listening to as i'm doing my comp so i can make precise adjustments to the effects per frame while audio is active

plus i want to have nuke and after effects tools that fusion has yet to include (BMD, the floor is all yours for the third suggestion)

You'll need to be much more specific. Which tools would you like to see? There's a pretty good chance that the Fuse and macro builders among us can fulfill many such wishes. I myself have constructed a few macros to help out AE users, like Roughen Edges and Fractal Blocks, both of which are available in Reactor. But I'm not going to just open AE and go through every effect one at a time to make Fusion analogues.

Create a projection Card/BG from Camera Track

In Nuke, I can right click on a tracking point from a Camera Track and choose to create a 3D Card - for projection - at the exact location of that point. I would like to see a similar feature in Fusion 10.

Any thoughts or suggestions on how to achieve that in Fusion 9?

It's already there! :-)

When you select a point in your point cloud (which you get when you do a 3D track) you can use the button in the viewer marked 'plane' to add a plane at the marked point. Or you can use the 'shape' button to do the same thing.

Thanks, Sander. And I can use that Plane for a camera projection?

I am not sure what you mean by that, but most likely yes. ;)
