Fairlight ADR Voicemeeter Workaround and Issues

PostSun Jan 27, 2019 4:10 pm

I made a video and decided to document so I don't forget, or that other users may benefit in case we have the same specs. Specs in signature and in video.

ADR Voicemeeter Workaround

ADR Transport Control Issue - it used to work, not sure what version. Does anyone know?

ADR Mixing Control Issue - this hasn't worked for me at all before.

ADR Beep at in point Issue - hit or miss - still the same behavior.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Which exact version of Resolve are you using? v15.2.3 Studio?

With View > Show Audio Track Layers enabled, selecting a Take in the Take List, and using the Play button in the ADR Panel's transport, only the corresponding Audio Clip is visible and available for auditioning on the Timeline.

The alternate Takes are hidden on the Timeline, and represented as transparent boxes with a black border (i.e. alternate Takes are both audibly and visually disabled).

In this example, Takes 1, 2, and 4 are hidden, and only the selected Take is enabled and auditioned.
(i.e. Take 3 - "FL_George 0002-003 ADR Session Test_2019-01-29_1646_T0001_C0001")

With View > Show Audio Track Layers disabled, selecting a Take in the Take List, and using the Play button in the ADR Panel's transport, the corresponding Audio Clip is displayed on the Timeline and temporarily auto-moved to the top layer of the Audio Track while it is auditioned.
(in this example, Take 1 - "FL_George 0002-001 ADR Session Test_2019-01-29_1645_T0001_C0000").

When playback is stopped, the Timeline reflects the Audio Clip corresponding to the last Take recorded (i.e. Take 4 - "FL_George 0002-004 ADR Session Test_2019-01-29_1657_T0001_C00014").

ADR Mixing Control Issue - this hasn't worked for me at all before
Aux 1 is intended for the artist's (headphone) cue mix, but manual creation of the Aux Buss (in the Fairlight > Bus Format window), and patching (in the Fairlight > Patch Input/Output window) of that Aux Bus Output to an Audio Output is required.

ADR Beep at in point Issue - hit or miss - still the same behavior
On my systems, disabling the "Beep to In Point" and "Beep at In Point" via the toggle switches has no effect, as these functions are always active.

The workaround here, as you illustrate, is to use the "Level" slider in the "Beep to In Point" and "Beep at In Point" sections.

Good Sir, thank you for your very comprehensive response. I will look into these again and give my feedback. I reverted back to 15.1.2 (I believe it was, not in front of PC ATM), for my session yesterday. Session went smooth, with only 1 hiccup in around 8 hours of continuous use. The last recorded take would not show the Waveform, had to restart. Other than this no other mishaps happened.

Good Sirs,

My response and finding so far. Reverted back to 15.1.2.008 (more stable I feel, highly subjective but didn't want to mess up a session so went on ahead and used a previous version for my 1st session).

Best,
Bryan D.

Upgrading to the latest version, which as of 03/02/2019 is 15.2.3 (015), would be advisable.
