H.264 Pro Recorder not Working on Microsoft Surface Book 2

PostWed Mar 06, 2019 3:52 am

Hi,

I am currently having an issues with my H.264 Pro Recorder, when connected to my Microsoft Surface Book 2 laptop.

I have installed the 'Desktop Video 11' software, and have connected the Recorder which is showing as installed in the attached 'Devices' image.

When attempting to use the device in the 'Desktop Video' application, the device does not show as connected to the laptop at all -

I have updated Windows 10 on the laptop to version 1809, and have applied all the latest Surface firmware updates. This has not resolved the issue, with the device still not showing within Desktop Video at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know the Recorder works as I use it currently on a personal HP laptop.

What version of Desktop Video are you using on the HP laptop? And have you installed the exact same version on the Surface.. ?? Because Desktop Video does not display any hardware if it runs a different firmware version as the version of Desktop Video.

So open up the Desktop Video Setup application and check >> Help > About Desktop Video which version you have!

Yes, exactly the same version of Desktop Software. And the recorder shows within the devices tab -

Jan, you are a legend! This has worked and the device is now receiving the stream perfectly. Thank you very much for your help here.

Keegan, no problem - We were solving almost the same problem, for me, it looks like something with windows update (never solved this before), and Ole Kristiansen helped us. So he is the master :)
H264 Pro Recorder is an interesting kind of HW, we had also tried multiple destination streams with it etc :) I really love that my 12 years old computer can use it to record and stream FullHD video, but cant play it :)
