Pleased to report that I have 15.3 Studio up and running on the most up-to-date CentOS 7.6.
To avoid the pain of switching over to a virtual terminal and stopping gdm, installing the right version of gcc, etc. in order to install the 390.42 NVIDIA driver, I just installed, in this order:
- EPEL
- DKMS
- ELRepo
- kmod-nvidia-390xx.x86_64
As of today, kmod-nvidia-390xx.x86_64 package installed 390.116. If NVIDIA follows
semantic versioning best practices, that should be safe, despite BMD only having tested 390.42.
I should note that there was one weird little hitch with desktopvideo-11.0a18.x86_64.rpm. It never completed the installation "cleanly." It threw some error about already being loaded, and advised that I reboot to load it properly. I rebooted, uninstalled, reinstalled, and got the same error. I rebooted again and installed Resolve to see if the DeckLink had properly installed. It did, and it's all working fine.
