Metabones Speedbooster on the 4K BMPC?

PostMon Apr 29, 2013 6:11 pm

Don't get me wrong, I know it's still a s35mm camera, but then again so is the Epic and Scarlet when shooting normal. But I do like the almost IMAX immersive feeling that the wide angle, short DOF gives when shooting with let's say a 32mm lens on a full frame camera.

So both to increase the light but also enable even nicer looking images on a s35 sensor, would this be possible? The requirements for the speedbooster is that it's a mirrorless camera, which it is, but I cannot find any info on a EF to EF mount version of the speedbooster from metabones.

Anyone?

Get some coffee/tea and read the whitepaper:

The Speed Booster needs some space to do its optical tricks that takes up flange distance, so you can't do an EF to EF.

If mosaic engineering can design something that fits in front of the sensor, EF to EF, couldn't we also have an assortment of rear element lensing as well? Perhaps the camera could be sent to a factory and have indentations placed within the wall of the EF mount. "With this EF attachment, we could extend ourselves into a new realm of ND filtering, Anamorphic lensing, IR Filtering, and even optical reducers," copyright Levi Davis 2013.

its not a matter of putting something in the mount but rather reducing the mount distance to the sensor.

I skipped reading and searched for flange... :)
I understand the problem on the current adapter. Not too read up on this, but is it possible to design a new adapter that works as EF to EF? Completely redesign it for work with larger APS-C cameras?

Can do. But only for EF mirrorless cameras.
Se puede hacer. Pero solo para camaras EF sin espejo.

Yeah, exactly and Scarlet, Epic, BMCC EF and BMPC are mirrorless cameras and that's the whole point.

An interesting option for BMPCC. It would be a specific speedbooster. To cover a S16 sensor. Increasing more than one f stop. In this particular case.
