YES! - Nikon Lenses on BMD Cinema Camera

PostThu Aug 30, 2012 4:01 am

Hi Everyone

See images below.

Stills need to do tests for image quality and usability - though just a quick post to show yes, the Nikon lenses do mount on the BMD Cinema Camera with adapter.

I'm only using cheap adapters - nice to have a manual aperture on a ring. Will do tests soon to see how good this really is - though not sure how quick I can achieve this as I have a 30 hour flight later on today.

Catch you all soon,

Rick

Does the camera automatically focus with the Nikkor lenses? i have all nikkor glass and wasn't sure if this was an automatically focusing camera or if you had to manually focus it all the time for creative control.

Manual focus all lenses on all BMD cameras.

Thanks for anwering my question Rick! By the way, i'm looking at the Blackmagic pocket cinema camera when it comes out. Would i be able to use my Nikkor glass on that one too? Also, was curious what MFT zoom lenses with image stabilization you would recommend for that camera. Thanks again for your help!

how about the mm for lenses? for instance, do you use DX lenses or the full frame? which is the conversion?
many thanks, ciao

You can use both.

The mm (focal length) remains the same. The equivalent field of differs as the sensor is much smaller than both the DX and FX sensors.

Field of view and crop factor has been discussed at length in many other threads. Search is you friend. The info applies to every lens no matter what is was designed for.
