Broadcast Videohub on MS Windows Server 2008 R2

PostSat May 11, 2013 4:02 am

We have a Blackmagic Design Broadcast Videohub (72x144) and a Server PC with MS Windows Server 2008 R2 OS both located on our data center. We want to use the Server PC to be our "videohub server". Will that be possible on MS Windows Server 2008 R2 OS? We don't want to put/buy another PC in our data center just to serve us a "videohub server".

We tried connecting the USB connection of the Videohub to the Server PC and it was detected. We also installed the Videohub Software Control on the Server PC but still our Videohub Software Control cannot connect to the Videohub.

We have never tested Videohubs with Windows Server 2008. But you could try the following:

1. If Broadcast Videohub is detected in Device Manager then the USB driver has loaded correctly.
2. Can you connect via telnet to 127.0.0.1 on port 9990? If not then a required service is not running or the firewall is blocking the connection.

The way the client software works is that it connects via a network interface to the server PC and the server PC connects to the Videohub via USB.

I hope this helps.
