Happy with BMCC

PostSat May 11, 2013 7:37 am

Hi

I got my BMCC in the UK last week and just wanted to say what a great camera it is.
Ive followed the forum for a while now and have been just as frustrated as everyone else, but I am delighted with the BMCC, its an incredible piece of kit.
Ive had it fitted with a rig now and am looking forward to shooting with it in anger over the coming weeks.

I shot an interview with my two BMCCs yesterday... the guy who was going to edit the footage had never worked with a system like the BMCCs before (raw) so he was a little worried when he saw the images we were shooting on the camera's screen... but his opinion on the camera did a complete turn around when we dropped the footage into Resolve. He couldn't stop talking about how beautiful and cinematic the output looked - with the camera's metadata used as exposure/white balance in Resolve.

The final output of the project is 720p... so he can effectively recompose the shot anyway he likes.

We shot the interview in a prominent visual effects company's offices and the camera developed a huge audience while we were setting up :D . Everyone was asking questions (very few people in my area have seen a Blackmagic camera).

Apart from the lack of VU meters and general audio issues, the camera is an absolutely amazing piece of equipment. I love it. I love this camera soooo much. It is well worth the wait.

we had separate audio guy to record all audio but he did also feed the bmc with he's
audio outputs and it was so nice to edit offline with proper audio.

i will post the clips around here when they are finished.

bartman....did you order it from a man in a van down by the river?

There are people ordering it now and getting it two days later. Who ever is the reseller you ordered from, I think it's time you went and got your money back.

The situation is not the same everywhere in the world. Here in europe the cameras are very hard to come by.
