Render a single clip in timeline for playback

PostFri Jun 14, 2019 3:34 am

Yes, I know about optimized media, and proxy mode. But I just want to render a clip for playback on my time line. It wont playback smoothly with the "filed blend" filter. How do I render a single clip?

Definition of cache (Entry 1 of 2)
1a : a hiding place especially for concealing and preserving provisions or implements

how about a little more than a one word answer that can mean a lot of different things....jeesh!

Read what the manual says about caching.

Search the user manual for playback clip caching. You can select a clip and use User Cache from the main menu. It’s quicker than waiting for a response on the forum.

Right click on a clip in timeline. Select "render cache color output" and then resolve will render that clip for you. just realize (it took me a bit) that "render" in resolve applies to outputting projects and "cacheing" (caching?) is what people coming from premiere or fcp etc. think of as rendering.

you should to go into your preferences, too, and adjust your cache settings--you set the quality of the cache files, and whether or not they occur automatically, etc.

edited to add: those settings are found in project settings master settings..

Thanks Chris!!!

Ya, i saw that, but it referred to color, so I thought it was something different.

Anyway...I really appreciate the pointers.

I'm not a fan of the "read the manual" replies usually, but it actually clarifies a ton about caching if you read the section when you have a few minutes after your deadline.

i also was under a deadline when i wrote "cache" thinking that was enough of a keyword to get you going on finding an answer

i cache to a project folder on my disk array to make deleteing at the os level faster
