4k monitor UI

PostMon Jul 22, 2019 2:12 pm

i just bought a 4k monitor (3840x2160), just for the UI.

in windows 10, everything looks really small by default. there are settings available in windows for custom scaling, but i cant get them quite right. either the UI is way too big, or too small for my taste. i tried scaling on 100,125,150,175, and 200 percent, but every setting other then 100% seems like the same as 200 (or at least too big. it feels like there is missing something in between.
any tips?

Always leave Display Scaling set to 100%.

"Small" is how you get all that extra screen real estate. The only way to make things "larger" is to actually buy a larger screen.

I recommend at least 32" for UHD resolution. (I use this myself.)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Unfortunately, you're currently out of luck as Resolve stubbornly remains probably one of the last remaining professional applications to adapt to high DPI monitors (on Windows). They haven't fixed it in version 16, so perhaps next year will be when they finally get to where other applications have been for around 3 years now.

Found some environment variables you might try:

QT_HIGHDPI_DISABLE_2X_IMAGE_LOADING=1 or 0
QT_USE_NATIVE_WINDOWS=1 or 0
QT_STYLE_OVERRIDE=1 or 0

These were found in some of the Resolve dll files.
