I typically work with an Ultrawide monitor in front of my, and a second monitor in portrait mode to the left of it. With the ability to have your media on the lower half, and your source preview on the top half, it really frees up your primary monitor and can help optimize workflow.

This is basically exactly what I would like to be able to do as well.
My second monitor is in portrait orientation, so I want to be able to pop out the preview window and place it on that monitor.

You can choose interlaced., But you won't get it if your source footage is progressive.

I think that's separate from any bitrate issue. I've seen others complain about Resolve's Interlaced handling as well.

Yes and no,
If I export video in Quicktime, DNxHD, there are only a few bitrates to choose from and interlaced output
is possible. OK, I think we'll leave it at that.
Many thanks

That's why I was asking earlier about which codecs you meant. Some like DNx do come with limitations defined by the manufacturer.

Is there a possibility of placing End Crawl templates for credits in the current version?

Or a way to import an excel spread sheet into the project as an end crawl?

Hi Jim Simon,
another big thank to you. What doesn't work just doesn't work and so far (and only so far) I continue to use GrassValley Edius. I will continue to try to give suggestions in the improvement of DR

Would love to be able to re-number nodes in the Color page, and then to be able to select them with keyboard shortcuts. Moving between nodes, especially for those of us who use somewhat standard mode structures, would be much quicker!

for me everthing runs pretty stable, apart from some bugs/teething problems. and apart from fusion. though i do hear others with smooth experiences there. very weird. and yes, i also experienced rage-moments. and not just for a minute. but lately, i had those moments more often in premiere. mostly when i avoid the fusion page, i experience almost no flaws.

maybe bmd should release a workstation + dedicated OS, which garantuees a perfectly working resolve ^^

That's completely normal, because you aren't using the software on their specific machines with their media, etc. Differences between his system and yours may be causing certain issues to surface in his situation, when you barely (if ever) see them. This is why it's important for Beta Testers to actually test the software, and not just use it like an Early Access Game Release (many do, but more is always better).

More multicam views!

PostMon Jul 29, 2019 6:52 am

What I imagine should be an easy feature to add...

Multicam viewing is typically 2x2 (<4 angles) or 3x3 (<9 angles)

I would love 2x3!

The 9 grid is too small, and there's just so much space wasted below the viewers.
2 across is perfect, but there is enough room for 3 down!

Thanks

It's infuriating to have it in the Fairlight page, but not in the Edit page.

I know it's in the CUT page...but in the Edit page - please.

Lighbox is very useful if you're looking for a specific clip within a timeline. But it would be great if Lighbox had a pull-down menu so you could change to any timeline you want without exiting Lightbox first.

Incremental Save for Timelines...

Embedded AAFs with handle options... still haven't successfully sent audio out of house...

more morph type transitions within editor... possibly customizable transitions...

Fusion needs quick and simple layer styles aka inner shadow, bevel and emboss...

To be able to control any numerical value with the jog wheel on the new keyboard you're making...

Better H264 render. Handbrake is soooo much better than Davinci in this regard. I always have to convert to DNxHR first with Davinci and then to H264 with Handbrake because very poor results with Davinci even when quality is set to high. I can see banding in low detail areas like sky and water where Handbrake has none.

Stabilization still has ways to improve I think especially in the micro jitters department

Still new to Resolve, if this is already possible please let me know. I'm continuing numbers from my past posts.

5) I'd like the ability to have an "auto deselect mode"

Whenever I click and drag a clip from one track to another, it stays selected. When I push play on my timeline and try to cut, it won't work because I'm still selected on that clip that I dragged.(I'd be surprised if this isn't already a thing, I just can't find it)

6) The ability to show larger audio waveforms in the Cut page would be great.

Right now the waveforms are super tiny and there is no way of increasing their size. I've grown fond of the cut page while cutting A.Roll as it's fast and fairly accurate, but difficult to see when the best part to cut is with such a small waveform.

When relinking clips (and other similar activities): when a relink operation is unsuccessful it would be nice to receive a list of clips that were not relinked. A similar message occurs if you then search for the clip without luck.

As it is only a message that says, for example, "22 of 74 clips could not be relinked". A list would be nice and the option of further, more refined search would be great.

As I recall, FCP 7 had a great tool for doing this.

While I'm at it: if one relinks a clip to a source file with a different resolution (for example, in a self-styled proxy workflow going from a 2k clip to the original 4k clip) the new resolution does not appear in the clip's metadata window. It would be nice if it would update itself. (Perhaps I am mnissing something...)

When I toggle fullscreen mode, i get a black frame in between. When I toggle back, other windows which are in the background flash through. In premiere the toggle is really instantaneous and there are no weird flashes.

Overall the fullscreen toggle is not as snappy as in premiere and the playback stops when you toggle it.

This issue is there since i can remember and it is very annoying and slows down my work as i use fullscreen all the time.

This is true for all computers and laptops and windows versions i tried and is the same on my friends computers.

After trying DaVinci Resolve 16 Public Beta for a multimedia video editing project, I've identified a few things that slowed down my workflow in the spline editor in the Fusion tab. It would be nice to see adjustments to the spline editor included in DaVinci Resolve 17 as I think it would improve the workflow and ease-of-use a lot.I'm new to this forum so apologies if this is posted in the wrong section.

Currently there is no keyboard shortcut to change the horizontal/vertical zoom individually in the spline editor's timeline in the Fusion tab. You can change the zoom simultaneously on both axes by holding CTRL and using the mouse wheel, but there is no shortcut for changing the zoom on either the horizontal or vertical axis separately. Having this would speed up the spline editing workflow, because you could use the keyboard to adjust the zoom in steps instead of having to click and drag the sliders to adjust the zoom.

Being able to jump the playhead to a certain position by clicking on the top of the timeline in the spline editor would be handy. Sometimes I want to move the playhead to a specific point without having to shift my timeline view to drag it over. Clicking the top of the timeline on the horizontal axis (which is used to measure the time or frame count) is an intuitive way to adjust the position of the playhead. I cannot find a way to do this.

Currently, the top of the timeline is used to adjust the horizontal zoom via clicking and dragging the mouse. This seems redundant due to there already being individual sliders for the horizontal/vertical zoom at the top of the Spline Editor window. If this functionality had to be kept, it could be moved to a hold Alt shortcut, while simply clicking the top of the timeline would make the playhead jump to the clicked point due to being more useful in terms of workflow priority.

Being able to stop the timeline view from following the playhead would be useful in my opinion. Sometimes when working on a specific set of keyframes, you want to play the sequence back once or twice to get an idea for what the timing is like. When the timeline view drags along to follow the playhead, it can be irritating because you now have to set the timeline view back to where your keyframes originally were.

Following on from that last one, being able to restrict the playback of the timeline in the Spline editor to the current view would be useful too. It would be a lot easier to review a specific sequence of keyframes if it snapped back to the starting position as soon as it reaches the end of the view.

Being able to click and drag the keyframe value box similarly to the other value boxes in the program would be useful. Currently, clicking and dragging on it in any way just enters text editing for the box.

This is the one I'm talking about:

Re: DaVinci Resolve 17 | Feature Requests list

Fusion History
As a Resolve Fusion user, I would like the History window to be populated with past Fusion-specific actions
Related: As a Resolve Fusion user, I would like the ability to Undo Fusion Activities.
Related Bug: Attempts to Undo in Fusion traverse Edit's History and, unbeknownst to the user, proceed to undo previous Edit activity. This is very foul.

Timelines
As a Resolve Edit, Fusion, and Deliver user I would like an option to persist timeline zoom level across Edit, Fusion, Deliver context changes.
As a Resolve Deliver user I would like stacked timelines and timeline tab navigation to persist in Deliver.

Project-Level Color Palette
As a Resolve user I would like the ability to specify a project-level color palette containing at least one and up to seven colors.
(a) When this palette has been populated, it would appear in place of the color picker wherever it currently appears (in support of graphics and text, not CC).
(b) While in this mode, a toggle to expose the traditional picker would be helpful for when customization is required.
(c) Changes to any color this palette must propagate in to all dependent artifacts.
Most projects have their respective color theory-friendly palette and this feature could help in locating and matching colors.

Universal Grid
As a Resolve Edit and Fusion user I would like the ability to specify project-level independent increments along the X, Y, and Z coordinates to which I could snap elements.
(a) As project-level attribute user-specifed Grid spacing would be common to both Edit and Fusion.
(b) A user could activate or deactivate this feature.
(c) When this feature is activated, sliders would represent these points as sticky detents.
(d) When this feature is activated, a toggle would become available to show or hide this grid onscreen.

Fusion Arrange Tools to Grid
As a Fusion user I would like a project-level option to globally activate and deactivate 'Arrange tools to grid' and 'Line up all tools to grid'.
Related: Tools are always occluded when I open a Fusion Node, it'd be nice to have a workaround.

Fusion Tool Primitives
As a Fusion user I would like Tool primitives to be exposed so that when I encounter a tool that has been renamed, I can determine what kind of tool it originally was.

Make Keyframe Grabs Less Tedious
Add some intelligence to selection... if its the only keyframe anywhere around where the user is clinking, then select it; same with bezier points.

If there is already a way to do any of the above, then kindly please let me know. Thank you.

Does anyone at BMD keep a spread sheet with all of these requests? If not...I might have to look back and give it a whirl when I finally hit a slow week.

I would love to see what the most requested features are, as well as some graphs to go with it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that would be interested. :D

Probably already requested features but...

The ability to add metadata to clips being viewed in the Media Storage window and the ability to search that metadata in the same window. Would eliminate some of the need for keyword tagging within the media pool.

A more reliable way to relink optimized media and to share that across different machines sharing the same database

and PLEASE PLEASE make alphas transparent for more than 1 clip in a stacked compound clip. Thus eliminating the need to go and build an unnecessarily complex Fusion comp.

On the other side loving all the new features in Resolve 16 so far.

1. Possibility to move project or folder out of a folder in the database page. We cannot move something up in the folder hierarchy at the moment. Only work around is to export a .drp and reimport it in the database at the right place.

2. Keep attributes of the multi cam clips when flattening it in the timeline

I'm confused. What difference to the editor if you enter metadata before or after import? Same amount of work either way.

I'm also not sure I like the idea of my NLE changing the actual media files on the hard drive. I generally prefer a fully non-destructive work flow, meaning those media files are "read only" from the NLE's viewpoint, in which case you'd have to import before you could add any metadata (as we do now).

That's pretty general. What specific new feature would make the process "more reliable" in your view?

Some kind of "Folder Tree" on the left like Windows Explorer would solve this. Just drag and drop to the new folder.

- A way to relink optimized media if it goes offline for some reason.
- CEA 608, and CEA 708 Captions export with the video file.

+1

I think there should be an alternative option for making Multicam Clips flat. Since we have two Levels within a Multicam Clip where you can apply some CC. First the one that you can see in the Editing-Timeline and second the one that is within those Clips that can only be reached with the "Open in Timeline" function.

So here an idea:
First Option: Flattening the Multicam Clip will keep the CC and Sizing that was done within the deeper Multiclip-Timeline Level. All the CC Settings that where done in the Top Level at the Editing-Timeline will be lost. (that is the case right now)
Second Option should be the opposite: Keeping the CC and Sizing that was done in the Editing-Timeline (=Top Level)

Or even better, just keep both CC settings and add them together in the node tree while flattening. That would be the most intuitive.

Offline clips: while I would love to have a window appear at project launch telling me what (if anything) is offline, a simple fix would be to add 'all offline' to the searchable fields, bringing up all offline clips in the project. Currently offline clips could be literally anywhere - in the cut, in some obscure bin - and are often only found when they present as a problem. Really important for long-form documentary with lots of bins and sources.

Export sequence as .drp: cloud-based collaboration would be great but for now a simple right-click 'export as .drp' for sequences would be hugely helpful for those of us constantly sending sequences between assistants, colorists, etc. Currently we copy, create new project, adjust settings, paste, export.
