Shape is the route I took. Tilta may be the way to go if you buy into many of the additional options they designed to integrate with their cage. It’s fairly well thought out and sure makes for an impressive market video as you see how all the options work together.

If you don’t need many of those optional pieces, because you may already have those bases covered, then likely any quality product designed for the BMPCC4K will be fine.

I went with the Smallrig cage for a couple of reasons. Smallrig makes quality products at affordable cost and the way they designed their cages makes it such that it works well with having the ability to add the important options without overcrowding or overweighing the rig, Of course you can do whatever you want and make it overcrowded. Generally, I would add a monitor, a mic, or a transmitter for video and mic devices, and a SSD cradle.

I have both... Smallrig has more mounting points, Tilta has fancier accessories... That being said unless you need a specific tilta accessory I would stick to smallrig...

By fancy accessories I mean the side handle that holds an NP battery and a T5 SSD, the angled HDMI and USB cables clamped onto the cage (smallrig HDMI and USB clamp is not great), etc...

And Smallrig has the big plus of having NATO mounting points which is an amazing easy/fast way of attaching stuff... Top handle for example with smallrig you just slide it in and lock, takes 1 second, with Tilta you need to screw it on every time... Little things but for some they make a difference...

Personally I have 2 Pocket4Ks, one with a Tilta rig with the side handle, monitor hood, angled Tilta cables, etc for fast handheld work, and an the other with the Smallrig cage with top handle, microphones, transmitters, V-Mount, rods, etc..

Tried both, stuck with the Smallrig. I went with the half-cage, actually. (I have a full cage if you'd like to buy one at a used discount.)

I have the Tilta. The best thing about it is the cable management for both the usb c cable and the hdmi cable.

I tried the Smallrig and 8Sinn Cage, I liked the 8Sinn much better, offered a better grip when handholding the camera. But both did not allow me to use my HotRod Cameras PL adapter support foot, so ended up getting the Wooden Camera Pocket Cage witch came with the correct lens support post that also works with the Speed Booster, not extra bits to buy, and the top grip can become a right side handle also, very nice.

Hello! Has anyone teste if it is possible to use the Tilta 90 degrees USBC cable on the Smallrig Cage? And also, will it work in the Smallrig Samsung T5 SSD Holder ? Thank you everyone.

It is a great pity that the Tilta cage is not intended for the BMPCC6K camera only for BM4k. And the bm6k is slightly larger than 4k and can damage the body. Personal experience.

tilta said it was for pocket4k, and from born of 6k they ship logo replacement for Bmpc4k cage to accommodate 6k.
They ship to me logo replacement for 4K cage when I ask them , second version fit correctly directly to 6k.

Anyway I went to tilta be cause I like a lot their design and ecosystem of accessories, but it’s a matter of taste, both are good.

Thank you Mark. I would like to get a 90 degree usb-c cable because in the last shoot I had problems when using the camera in the shoulder and with the easyrig, as I was hitting the connector continuously with my body and losing the connection between the camera and the ssd. The smallrig blocking system looks good but I prefer something that reduces the protrusion of the usb-c cable.
