Disable "click & drag" in numerical fields - Fusion 16

PostThu Oct 24, 2019 10:49 am

I'm finding the new behavior in Fusion 16 when you click on a numerical value and try to select it the initial behavior is to immediately start sliding the value up/down. Unless you force yourself to double click or click and release first, which slows down workflow and often results in accidentally changing values. Quite annoying! Is there a way to disable this?

I don't think it's possible to disable, but I agree, it would be nice.
This and the ability to tweak values with keyboard arrows like in Nuke.

Totally agree.. the new behavior is very annoying, especially for someone like me who uses a tablet a lot.. because once you try clicking in any of these numerical fields, almost everytime, I end up dragging and changing the values when all I was trying to do is to activate it to type a specific numerical value.

I understand that it makes Fusion's UI consistent with Resolve, but this behavior doesn't really work for me in compositing, and I believe other compositors feel the same way about it.

Also +1 for the Nuke-like behavior of changing the value using the arrow keys. It is one of the best things about Nuke's numerical fields for me.
System specs:
Resolve Studio version: 16.1.0.055
Fusion Studio version: 9.0.2
OS: CentOS 7
CPU: Intel i7-4790k 4GHz Quad-Core
RAM: 32GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 1080 Ti 11GB

I noticed only a few days ago that the arrow request was implemented in 17 :-)

Yes, that's nice, but something awesome in Nuke is placing the cursor on the decimal, and instead of quitting the mouse to press keyboard, just turn the mouse wheel. This alone would be a big big plus in Fusion ;)

Except it's not affecting the correct side. It should affect the place to the right of the caret, not the left. Manual inputs (especially ones that require you to use the keyboard) should be used for precise, not gross, adjustments, which you can do with the slider or preview control.

I found a workaround using the 3rd mouse button to click.
Those numeric fields are way too much sensitive to drag behaviour (1px is enough to trigger it).
