Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 - Announced at $800!

PostFri Jun 14, 2013 3:31 pm

Just saw this today, seems to be amazing for any of the BM cameras.
Even better, it's been announced for $800!
Available early July in the US (more mount options coming later this year).
What do you guys think?

I'd be more interested if it included IS, but could still be interested if the images it produces are very good. Looking forward to learning more about it.

The f1.8 aperture will be a bit faster compared to the f2.8 of lenses such as the Sigma 17-50mm IS and similar lenses from Tamron & Canon. Of course, faster is one thing, there's also useable sharpness, relative contrast, flare suppression, focus breathing, focus barrel "throw", focal lengths, and so forth. We shall see.

$799 is without taxes, still €999,- is more, but aren't we used to it?
