Using non standard resolution on DeckLink SDI Micro

PostTue Dec 03, 2019 5:36 pm

I'm recently bought DeckLink SDI Micro boards. I want to capture, process and output modified frames in non common resolution.
SDI input is SMPTE 292M compliant, resolution 1280 x 1024 progressive with frame rate 25 Hz (outdoors camera).
DeckLink SDI Micro's Video Setup software could not detect that stream for some reason.
As other examples I've tried to use S-Echoing HDMI to 3G SDI converter.
And DeckLink SDI Micro detects 1920x1080i@60, 1280x720p@60 from it but could not detect 1920x1080p@50, 1920x1080p@60, 1280x1024p@60.
At same time similar SDI to HDMI converter works properly for most resolution and frame rates. But that does not prove anything.

Is DeckLink could automatically only small amount of resolutions via its software?
Can I provide more detailed settings via SDK? For example pixel rate, horizontal and vertical frequency?

What do you mean?
Is Deck SDI Micro incapable to work with resolutions below 1080p?
Or are you talking about manually selecting input low-level parameters of video stream?

If you know what other boards can satisfy my needs can you list them?

As Jack says! You bought a capture card that does only capture broadcast resolutions and framerates. 1280x1024 is NOT amongst them. ;)

1080P50/60 should work. But might be that you send the wrong SDI format. In 3G-sdi there are a few things that can prevent you from having video. Level A vs Level B and Payload ID issues if the wrong SDI chipset is used. ;)

If you would have used a BMD Micro HDMI to SDI you are able to set the Level A vs B. and we are sure there is a official SDI signal on the output. Instead of China Garbage. And really that HDMI > SDI micro is not a lot more expensive.

I would go with eg.
http://www.magewell.com/capture/pro-capture

card for custom resolution work. I don't think BM is well suited for your needs.
