a problem with subtitles when exporting .srt

PostFri Jan 24, 2020 10:36 am

hi
i've a project in which i want to export to two separate files midway.

i've a problem with the subtitles. when i do 'in/out' in the delivery stage and choose to export .srt as a seperate files i get two video files (i render one at time) but i get only one .srt.

the main problem is that the second video gets the subtitles file of the first video.

i've tried to make another timeline for the subtitles of the second video but it went wrong too.

do you know how to help me with this?

thank you very much!

Subtitling in DR is pretty much half-baked, I tend to use separate tools for that task.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Studio 18.6.5, MacOS 13.6.5
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM and iPhone 15 Pro
Speed Editor, UltraStudio Monitor 3G, iMac 2017, eGPU

You're on the right track: create a second timeline, with only the portion of the program you want to export with a separate .srt file.

As long as the subtitles line up correctly, there should be no difficulty getting an accurate .srt file.

hi again :)
i've tried again with two timelines (see image)
i still get one .srt file with all the subtitles of the whole project.

if there is a simple way to fix it i would glad to know. perhaps making two subtitles timelines as well?

if it's a problem please tell me of some software i can use to make the subtitles.

EDIT: can i make another project for the second video? is there anythnig i need to know about how to make a second project that is made from a previous project?

thanks

That's not two timelines, it's two video tracks. Copy everything from the playhead to the end of the timeline and paste it into a new timeline. Of course, the timings of the .srt file from the second timeline will not match the timings of the master file.

One could use filler to make them match.

thank you people!
i've another problem because i did a mistake.

without going into much detail let me ask it straight:

if i create a new project and i want to import into it past projects how do i do it?
i know it sounds simple for you but i really don't get it.
the thing is that when i try to import a project i'm asked to choose a file. but i'm not directed to the projects window.

perhaps i need to export each project that i want to import beforehand?

anything else that worth mentioning about importing with subtitles?

thanks!!!

you have to turn on dynamic project switching by right clicking in your projects home area.
Once this is on, you can have multiple projects open at once...then you simply copy and past items from one projects timeline to another projects timeline.
