How to literally transform?

PostWed Jan 22, 2020 8:35 pm

Hello

You see, I'm doing a hobby project which involves making a picture transform into other by a use of any transitions (for example picture of chocolate glitches into chocolate bunny pic) . And I'm wondering... can you accomplish such task in Blackmagic? If so, what should I do?

Can you articulate exactly what you want the transformation to look like?

Hey Nakko

Your question is a bit vague so its hard to pinpoint one solution. If you just want to transition an image of a chocolate bar into a chocolate bunny, it sounds like you want to 'morph' the two images, from one to the other. Try checking out some morphing graphics tutorials on youtube to explore the technique in general terms.
If you want a simple and quick 'trick', try using the grid warp node to animate the two images towards each other's shapes.
If you want a more elegant and smooth morph, as you would see in movies and commercials, that would likely be a 3D geometry modeling animation; and would require some technical expertise with modeling and texturing.
Feel free to paste your comp nodes here anytime you need help, as it helps to understand exactly what you are asking.

Depends on style of transform: if you're looking into morph technique like this https://vimeo.com/373071792#t=45s, then you need Re:Flex Morph plug-in https://revisionfx.com/products/reflex/ from RevisionFX guys.

This is a 4 minute video of a video game with in/out fades in the first 30 seconds. After that I gave up.
I have no idea what part of the video you're referring to. Can you at least give us a timecode?

Hmm, Weird. I would bet my ass I have put the "play from" function. But alright. The time code is 1:39 and lasts about 2 secs

You can use a combination of Merge nodes and MosaicBlur nodes if you are using Resolve Fusion. You just add the two images in as MediaIn nodes and merge them with your output. You can then use Transform nodes to size and position them. Then add MosaicBlur nodes after the Transform nodes and keyframe the blur and the blend in the Merge nodes to have them fade in and out.
