Animated travel map , problem with resolution

I am totally beginner and english isn't my native language please excuse me.

I am following this tutorial youtube.com/watch?v=taz-Ucsj4vE and everything seems works smoothly apart the very low resolution of the main map when the camera is near to the map itself ( youtu.be/oOWSKtBXV1I
So I downloaded a bigger map , it is a jpeg file of about 3000x3000 pixel.
The problem arise when I try to use MaskPaint over a background for drawing the path of the travel.
The background is limited to 1920x1080 so the stroke disappear when I go outside of the background itself even if the 3d camera can easily reach that part of the photo during movements.
Is it possible to set a background bigger then 1920x1080? , is there some workaround?

This is my solution to a similar problem.
I have a very large map made by stitching together 6 large maps. - in Fusion.
The resultant map is just under 20,000 x 10,000 pixels.
I created a black background of 20,000 x 10,000 and placed the map on it using a merge.
I created a second background of the same size and made it transparent.
This transparent background was merged over the top of the first merge.
I then used Paint on the transparent background to paint Roads onto the map whilst viewing the resultant from the second merge.

It is not possible to output large images from Fusion so I used a Crop tool after the second merge to reduce the output to 1920 x 1080. This maintains the resolution of the original maps. However it is necessary to use a Transform tool before the Crop to select the region of the map to output and to scale it down if required.

This works well, apart for the horrific render times.

Any time you get sizing mis-matches in fusion, you have to do something like that. Like Johns solution, i don't even think about it anymore....merge the clip onto a background at the needed size, and then the output of that node becomes your new source size. A resize node can probably also be used for your situation.

Depending on your workflow you can definitely work around the stitching larger part for your maps with some clever linking stuff together. Fusion's 2D workspace is infinite, so what you can do is just work with a small background and merge your six maps on top of it, then position all these images in a way that they all line up to each other and then use a transform tool behind that merge to move your image and you will see that the stuff that was outside of your merge tool is actually still there. You can do whatever you want with the images before you merge them together (draw paths on them for example) and everything will come across with it.

I know this sounds a little abstract, but it's not always necessary to go really, really big.
