PCC4K and Panasonic Leica 10-25 1.7

PostTue Mar 10, 2020 7:38 pm

Has anyone had actual experience using the pocket 4k with the Lumix Leica 10-25 f1.7 lens?
Looking for actual hands on feedback for this lens on the Pocket 4K or 6K.
I hear the lens manual aperture ring will not work on the PCC4K.
Does push to focus work?
Manual focus on the lens work?
Aperature adjustment via the camera work?
Any other issues or comments?
How is the image quality?
Thank you.

While not having used the new WA zoom, I have the other PanaLeica primes at 12-60 zoom, iris ring on the lens only works with some higher end Panasonic cameras like the GH5. Push to focus on camera, manual focus and camera control of the iris all work quite well. I would not anticipate any issues with the 10-25, which would be an interesting ultra WA on the Pocket 4K. This and any other MFT lens will Not work on the Pocket 6K, which has a Canon EF Mount.
Cheers

Such a WA zoom may have other issues on the P4K, like vignetting and/or distortion. Panny and Olympus compensate in-camera for such problems, while BM's cameras don't.
This is definitely the case with the Panny 7-14mm f4 zoom.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

There are a lot of reviews on YouTube of this lens, including at least one using the Pocket 4K. Includes a discussion and images re barrel distortion:

Thanks. I have seen that video. Tis limited.
Yes there will be barrel distortion at 10mm and and lens that wide will have such.

There's no intrinsic reason a 10mm M43 lens should have barrel distortion (it's only 20mm on FF equivalent) anymore than any other focal length. It's just that the designers can make gains in other areas of the design if they have the option to fix distortion with software. The real issue is why can't BM get access to the M43 data to correct this in-camera ?

Hi,

I have this combo, and I have no problems. As commented above, all works fine except iris control through physical lens ring.

Quality it’s very good (although I’m not using the camera for professional work, only personal).

It’s a very versatile lens, the only downside IMO is the lack of stabilization...
