How to mix 6 Audio channels to 1 track

PostSat Apr 04, 2020 1:12 pm

I have a clip recorded in mts format with audio 6 channels - AC-3 Dolby Digital.
6 mono tracks are created in the timeline.
What to do to have 1 audio track with 6 channels?
Can I mix to 1 stereo track?

Thank you

Create a new audio track with 6 channels. If your bus is Stereo it will downmix it for you.

I'd suggest checking out a Fairlight tutorial or two.

My BUS is a 2ch stereo. When I drag a file onto the timeline, 6 mono audio tracks are created.
Creating a new track 5.1 gives nothing.
I try to mix 6 tracks to 1 5.1 or to 1 stereo track, but I didn't find anything in the documentation.

I'm trying to create a new timeline with 1 track audio but no result.
Is it possible to do it in the free version?

Thank you

From the Fairlight menu make your main bus a mono bus.
then make a timeline with six mono tracks
in media pool clip attributes select the clip (s) and make them 6 channel monos
drag them to the timeline
they should mix to the mono main bus

I did according to your instructions but I still get 6 separate mono tracks.

Configure the source media with the required channel configuration via Clip Attributes in the Media Pool prior to drag-dropping on to the Timeline.

Thank you!
I'm getting closer to success!
It works if we start from zero :)
My movie is already partially edited and how to transfer clips from the old timeline (6 tracks mono) to the new timeline (1 track audio 5.1). ?

Thank you!

It may be simpler just creating a Link Group (Fairlight menu > Link Group) in the current Timeline.

Try this. If you have them on the timeline in the order shown in Reynaud's earlier post choose 5.1 (L-R-C-LFE-LS-RS).

See manual p2842 for more info.

To go from 5.1 to stereo requires a correct mixture of center, rear and LFE onto the left and right channels.

Is Resolve doing that automatically?

Bumping this question.

Would appreciate an explicit yes or no from devs whether Resolve will downmix 6-channel material (5.1) correctly to a 2-channel bus.
