Today I received my first Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 6K camera ever and WOW, a decent box, warranty info on the outside. I opened it up and WOW, a nice attempt at Apple packaging (which, by the way, Jobs learned from his time in Japan – So Apple stole the packaging concept from the Japanese), and then I see the camera wrapped up all nice and open it. The camera is friendly, but the LENS IS FILTHY, dirty with dirt and some glue all over the front cap. Oh, I was just disgusted by it. It was terrific customer experience, and then Blackmagic Design fell on their face - face first.

What happened Blackmagic Design? How did you make such a huge mistake?

For your reference, please take a look at the attachment.

Well, anyway, I am looking forward to receiving the lens for this camera and start using it. In about 2 weeks from now, that is.

It will go well with the constellation 8K I ordered last week.

I hope this topic will help Blackmagic Design to make better products.

What lens? The camera does not ship with a lens. Are you referring to the lens mount cap, or the sensor cover glass inside the mount?

Oh, I am so sorry that my words were not correct and my English was aweful.

Yes, the "lens cap" was filthy and with dirt on it, as shown in the photo.

The panasonic S1H was all clean. Not a glue mark or dirt anywhere. But in the photo, you can clearly see a filthy lens cap.

However, the camera is charged and when I get the lens in a couple of weeks, I am looking forward to using it. Oh this virus stuff has ruined my shipping schedules.

Both of my BMPCC4K were in horrible shape when received "new" out of the box.
Unit #1 was so dirty, salt crystals on it, had corroded screw heads, scuffs, I returned it to my retailer. It was a used camera in a shrinked wrapped box sold as "new". Unsure who resold it as new.. the mfg or retailer, who knows.
Number 2 was not so abused, but was dirty with finger print smudges all over it. but I kept it and cleaned it up.
Someone with dirty hands must have been testing/packaging the unit.
I'm so used to buying cameras and lenses, that appear to come from a pristine clean room.. and when I saw how the BMPCC4k was packaged, that did not meet my expectations.
I did cleanup the camera. But the customer should not have to do such. IMHO.

Hello everyone, I cleaned up the cap and finally got a cannon lens for the camera, and the camera appears to work fine. I am happy about it.

Indeed, there are some issues with Blackmagic packaging, to have such a problem with their camera in a new box. Either that or B&H sold me a second-hand camera, which I don't believe they would do that.
